Ascilab Owners – Ask Questions, Share Feedback

Hi all, I'm considering revamping my office (11'x12') and pairing a Rotel A10 MKII with my much beloved AsciLab F6Bs. I've been an audio enthusiast for many years, but in the area we live it's nearly impossible to audition equipment. I'm primarily an NAD fan, but I've had older Rotel amps and always appreciated their sound. Very curious to hear some input from the wealth of knowledge here on ASR. Thanks!

I've no experience with either Rotel or NAD, but I'm using the eversolo play to power my c6bs which gets it loud. F6b would run easier too, the eversolo would give you EQ as well as room EQ, streaming options, sub integration etc.

Giving you an option to consider!

Do we have any producers/professionals who are using Ascilab in here?

I am on the fence about purchasing the A6B, they look great on paper, but it would be great to hear some realworld useage.
Gearspace has an Ascilab thread, but no feedback yet.

We have some here if you are in the UK?
Phil Ward has reviewed/measured the A6B for Soundonsound sound and the review will be published at some point.

I'm not a professional producer; I only record and mix my music in my spare time... :)

Nothing against AsciLab, but at this point, they have no proven track record that their speakers can handle the abuse that often occurs in a music studio, such as sudden large bursts in level or extensive, long sessions of work for 10-12 hours a day.

And I doubt the company can provide you with spare parts fast enough if something breaks. Just as @amirm mentioned in another thread, if AsciLab wants to enter the pro studio market, they must have a reliable network of dealers and/or repair shops with spare parts on the shelves. They can't expect a music studio to wait extended periods for their loudspeakers to be repaired. I have no doubt they can do that in the future, but at this moment, they obviously have a hard time even providing enough loudspeakers for the consumer market.

Gearspace has an AsciLab thread because a dealer of the brand (Purité Audio) has started the thread. ;)

I agree with goat, when it is your livelihood, that’s why we keep spare sets for ‘pro’ users.

Mastering engineer here and I received a couple of days ago a pair of black A6B (coming from a beloved set of Amphion One15).
Haven’t listened to them yet, waiting for some Kimber 4PR cables to show up in my mailbox.
Monitoring chain : SMSL D-6S > Ghost Cables > Hypex NCore NC252MP > Kimber 4PR > A6B
In a heavily treated room which went through a massive overhaul (95% complete as I type).
I’ll report back if anyone’s interested.

I’d be interested.
But don’t wait for Kimber. Any old cable will do!

Irony is, I don’t have any speaker cable left ;) I sold the Amphion cables with the whole bundle (speakers + amp + cables).
But I should receive it within the next few days.
First listening session will be in my living room though, studio’s still a mess with timber leftovers and tools all over the place hehe.
I’m confident in my purchase FWIW, and I can already tell they *feel* super solid and look marvelously elegant.

If anyone gets the S6B (preferably in white) at some point I would really appreciate seeing some pictures. I am curious how they look in a real environment rather than the stock pictures.

I have some A6B in white, S6B haven't appeared yet.

If anyone is interested in a new pair of metallic grey C6Bs new in box please lmk. I paid $1659 ($200 paint & $100 shipping) so asking for that. I thought I'd check first here if anyone wants them in their home. I'm about to return them to Tested Audio (US distributir) because I bought a different pair of speakers while waiting for these to arrive.

I finally got A6b and its amazing but now ive got problem with paint job, my girlfriend sprayed some hair spray in my room and some droplets got to couple side of one of my speakers, but i cant seem to get the white stains out of paint job no matter what i try? Ive already tried, isopropyl, vinegar (it made them to fade but just little bit, plastic cleaner and bathroom cleaner) :((( it seems like those hairspray droplets got deep into the paint job. It got most of it out but left lot of those white stains that can be seen in bright direct light and they seem to repel liquids://

Interesting. Would something like Armor All be a reasonable way to protect the finish?

The only mature way to handle this is to go cover her stuff with hair spray.

Like this... Have those etched into the the paint? Is there anyway to remove those or are repainting or a vinyl wrapping pretty much my only options? Im gonna bring it to professional ofc, im not ocd to do it by myself. But it sucks:( it was on my table tho it came off so easy off it but from the paint of this speaker, its so hard to get it out.

That is the matte version right? Matte paint tends to be porous so I am afraid it got in there and you can't get it out. The vinegar (acidic) was not a good idea. Bummer mate :(

ps. I see there is still tape left on the beauty rings.
