Ascilab Owners – Ask Questions, Share Feedback

Allow me one more question on Ascilab speakers in general. I would have to place them in front of windows. I'm not sure if it is a good idea to have the uncovered passive radiators on the back being exposed to direct sunlight all day, every day?
That would be terrible indeed.

But if you don't need the light from that window, there are decent UV and visible light protection film that will cut off the former by something like 99.99% and the latter by 80%. You would still be able to see the outside during the day, so it's not equivalent to closing the shutters and you still benefit from having a window while protecting your gear.

Thanks for your advice. Unfortunately I don't think this works, it is the livingroom.

Not sure if they offer any for the backside. I will check.
No, I was suggesting you get a seamstress to make you a heavy fabric cover to fully cover the speakers when not in use. The cover would be removed when you used them. Or you could buy some fabric and do it yourself.

I have always a target of dream speaker for my future, and by the transparency and spins that are coming out of this company it's looking like a strong contender for taking the spot. I have intentions to create a room in the house I'm building where the main goal is 2 channel listening, but I would like it to naturally support a full atmos theater setup as well as I believe that can be done without compromise.

So my question bluntly is... what speakers would be best for that idea? Would the c8c and respective bass modules be sufficient for 2ch listening in a 6000 cu ft room? Would I want the bass modules to run instead of 4 subs and Dirac ART that I will have for movies anyway? Or would I do something like the S6B for LCR? Or do I just sit tight and wait for the towers? (I mean... I'm going to be sitting tight regardless as this won't happen for a year or 2... or more).

This all sort of hints at the discussion of cardiod vs Dirac/room treatment. At the end of the day the solution is to have a favourable curve at the listening position. In my understanding, the advantage of the cardioid design is that it prevents the problem, whereas Dirac "solves" the problem. Also of course they are not mutually exclusive solutions. So is a cardioid speaker just as advantageous in a designated room, with Dirac supported subwoofers?

Edit: To be clear, even though I don't traditionally listen to bass heavy music, I absolutely derive the most pleasure from whatever presence it has in that which I do.

I think there's a good chance Dirac ART assumes all bass drivers produce omnidirectional bass, I don't know how it would interact with the bass stands.

You could get the F6Bs speakers, these have no passive radiators.

Probably, but measurements (bass extension, compression and distortion at high volume) are needed to verify.

It's an interesting point that might only be answered by someone who knows the algorithm. My assumption would be that Dirac only cares about what (and when) the mic picks up and remains agnostic of how the rest of the room is or how it got there.

In a nearfield setup (under 0.5m), is it better to angle C6B toward the listening position, or should they remain parallel with the front wall?

Since the listening distance is very short, a slight toe-in is recommended. Alternatively, pointing them directly at the listener is also fine.

Is your head really only 0.5m from the speakers? That is mighty close for any speaker, personally I would prefer a Coaxial design for that distance.

Hola, received the ASCILAB C6B. Bigger than expected, but they look pretty cool.

I would need to buy some stands now. I want to put them next to my TV. Distance to my listening position is approx. 2m (6.5 ft). Any recommendation on stand height?

Hi here is a reply about where the acoustic centre of the speaker is
I’d like to recommend to listen at acoustic center “A”. But it won’t be sensitive about the ear height. Our vertical dispersion is quite linear and wide than average.

And the acoustic center height is 22~23cm from the bottom.

So try find your ear height in your listening position to find where you need the speakers height to be and get stands that fit that range :)

Dear Ascilab Dreamteam,
I ordered your C6B model in metallic gray with an orange waveguide from the Audiophonics website in France last December. The initial estimated delivery date for the C6B was the first week of January, later postponed to early February, and now to mid-March — with the waveguide currently expected for early May 2026.
I fully understand that unforeseen delays can occur, but I would appreciate a clarification regarding the situation and an updated estimated delivery schedule.
I remain very interested in your product, but these repeated postponements are concerning, and I would be grateful for any precise information you can share.
Kind regards,
