They start suffering (distortion) at 96 dB, 11 dB above their nominal sensitivity. 30-40 W in 4R should be enough to reach this threshold.
Good point, they also mention on the product page that the maximum unweighted SPL is 97 and recommended amp is 50-125.

But the A6B's (purifi-based) recommendation is up to 500w... and the MSRP is about 5x, so in that case asking the user to shell out for a 500w amp is not crazy.

On the other hand, it's not like you can find a lot of super-sensitive, small, high-performing, cheap speakers. Something about an iron law or whatever...
"Iron Law"?
I thought that was the customary >25% surcharge for matching-stands that some (not-so-cheap) brands excise.
[Example: $1500 KEF LSX-II, with $400 matching KEF stands]

Yeah, I agree clean watts are cheaper than ever, but for a ~$600 pair of speakers, "just buy a bigger amp" isn't trivial, Buckeye amps cost as much as or more than the speakers. Most people can probably get by with 100w or so, but still.
What does that mean? Are you saying that $600 for these speakers are too cheap and that Ascilab should sell it for more?

$600 for these Ascilab speakers, $600 for a Buckeye amp, $1,200 for a world class HiFi system. What more can anyone here complain about? Go back just 5 years, you need to pay $1,000 for some just OK Revel M16 alone. We live in the golden era of affordable HiFi, and yet we are still looking to race down to the bottom of the barrel?

Ascilab is able to sell a pair of high performing speaker for relatively dirt cheap, take that win and celebrate. Everyone, please no more of this sensitivity non sense talk.

My point was just that someone spending $600 on speakers may not also have hundreds more for a higher-end amp. Some were suggesting the F6B would need a lot of amp power due to the not-so-high sensitivity.

But actually, in this case, the $600 speakers can be driven to the limit of mfr. recommendations by a $120 amp or so, which I think is totally reasonable, and I agree with you overall.

It is a bulletin board where you can see the approximate development history. It is Korean and Asilab have shared information with Korean users. If you take a look at it using Google Translate, you can see the development process roughly.

@AsciLab Trying to order a pair of F6B but both on desktop and mobile when selecting PayPal a popup appears that remains blank =/

it deserves to be highlighted that this speaker is a sealed box with a series capacitor. This gives an alignment in the middle between sealed and reflex (3rd order roll off) whilst offering excursion protection. All this without the issues with a port or PR. I am happy to see more designs like this.
Just for the historically interested my 1979 Technics SB-10 are also like that:

My first speaker the Audio Pro 2-25 from 1979 used something similar.

On the question of power needed to drive this or any other speaker, this is not something that can be answered. Your impression of loudness is not something we know. For me, pushing this speaker to limits of its capabilities requires a couple of hundred watts. No, you won't be driving it with a sine wave all the time that way. You just want it to not distort or run out of power to drive it.

To make sure context is understood, going from 1 to 5 watts is five times higher. To go five times higher from 100 watts requires 500 watts! So the last few watts are "worth" far less in the context of loudness than the first. When I am playing loud, maxing out my amplification doesn't actually make things that much louder. Spend the money wisely now to get the most power you can so you can be future proof.

how does this compare to active speaker Neumann kh150 in terms of spl and distortion.
paired with amp of course.
Neumann speakers are more accurate/flatter response. Per my above post, no one can answer whether you have enough loudness in KH150 or not, but you.

I will say that this speaker provides strong competition for many studio monitors.

How about off axis response and reflections in a room. Ive heard people say the numanns don't provide a wide listening window.
Although I don't understand the data, I want to use them in the lounge, and have a wide listening window for reflections.

Nice speakers! Now, how is “AsciLab” pronounced? Like ASCII-Lab or A-SCI-lab (SCI- as in “science”)? Thanks for the review Amir…
Second is right. You can see how Erin announces AsciLab in his video. I told him how to read it by recording Lol.

Yeah, there's bound to be one. I'm curious about the one with the extra bass on the backside but I don't think it has a chance against my current floorstanders when it comes to dynamics. And with two front speakers I'd look like a looney :p
I dunno, back in the day had a pair of Quad ESL57s and a pair of Wharfedale diamonds running together, before the days of subwoofery.
