Impressive speaker and impressive releases from this company!

Yeah, there's bound to be one. I'm curious about the one with the extra bass on the backside but I don't think it has a chance against my current floorstanders when it comes to dynamics. And with two front speakers I'd look like a looney :p
back passive radiator is C6B (C - ceramic drivers, 6 -inches woof, B - bookself)
there is also coming A6B (purifi w/ceramic tweet, ..., ...) - this would be more similar to ~floorstander or like..

The drivers are fairly far apart due to the size of the waveguide, yet the vertical directivity seems point source like. They must have put a lot of science in this thing.
im no expert, but the expert in me says woofer/tweeter Low crossover point, which seem to be excellently designed thx to designed waveguide etc.

What a great speaker! Even with shipping included is quite competitive price/performance ratio...

Now... when you say you will need a powerful amp... what do you mean by that exactly? Of course it depends the SPL you want to achieve so I will be specific.

In a very small room (around 45 cubic meters) with a listening distance of 2 mts aprox., and considering I will be using them in a 5.1 speaker setup for movie watching between 80-85db (definetly no reference level)... how much power would you recommend? Would a 200W@4ohm work properly?

Best Regards

I think it's ugly as hell on looks (but that is subjective). On tech it's very good for such a small speaker. But it's again a speaker that is too ugly to be an option, how good it may sound. But for those who don't agree on the looks, it may be a great relative cheap speaker to buy...

Is that thing stuck in front of the tweeter just for show? Or do they actually think it has some kind of positive acoustic effect? It's a little annoying to me...

Looks like it's probably a phase plug?

Just a stupid great bargain. I'm glad they decided to sell the ones with the fiber woofer worldwide as it seems like the perfect entry level speaker at $575 a pair. Just a handful of years ago this level of performance was unobtainable at even ten times that price. With a sub, perhaps a little eq, and a good $200 amp, it could be possible to play these full range and as loud as most everyone who's not camping out on the edge of reality, playing death metal, and heavily dosing drugs and alcohol could want.

Thank you for this killer review Amir. You really gave us a winner this time. Congrats to Asci as well. This along with the C6b are indeed an auspicious debut. Can't wait for the A6b!

For those new to the brand, their main thread is over a year old now and has specs as well as loads of info:

Yes, I mixed two models up, didn't know there were 3 different models. C6B seems to be the most interesting, flatter frequency response and all

I personally think the f6b looks best in black. Beauty is a very personal thing, though.

I didn't realize this one has "the hump" but at least it can be EQ'd out. For the money it's a pretty impressive speaker. Great to see the company getting their measurements confirmed and good reviews around the web.

@amirm @AsciLab thank you!

So great that both are working together and Erin and Amirm both tested 2 speakers. Looking forward to the larger Ascilab speakers. I like to pump up the jams and need to put the speakers 1 foot from the back wall.

We have so many proven choices now in the $200-1000 range now. From DIY Mechano to Ascilab! Loving it!

PS. saw that @Nuyes has also tested a couple of the speakers, amazing! Hi hopes for the larger speakers.

These folks clearly know about how to go about designing a good speaker. It looks they are using SB Acoustic and Purify drivers in many of their models, which is a statement of quality parts. I do not know how they are offering all of this for the price point they are being sold at. I vote great.

I'm no expert neither, but I also suspect maybe a very steep crossover curve?

I think the benefit of a new company is fresh blood with fresh ideas, who have learn the latest science, and engineering techniques to apply. And hopefully, they will push other legacy speaker manufacturers along as well.
