I plan to add a pair of speakers as the
Side Surrounds in my HT setup. Due to the asymmetry of my seating position, the left Side Surround will be about 60–80 cm away from me, while the right Side Surround will be 1.3~1.5 m away. I need speakers with a narrow depth, and their low-frequency performance should allow me to cross them over at
80 Hz. Calibration will be done using Dirac Live.
Currently, I am considering the
Ascilab F6s and the
KEF Q4 Meta. Both have a depth of around 15 cm, which fits my requirements well, but I am not sure how to choose between them. On paper, the KEF Q4(port on the side) offers better bass extension, higher sensitivity, greater maximum output, and a coaxial design. Meanwhile, the Ascilab F6s(sealed), like the other speakers in my system, are non-coaxial, which might provide better surround matching.
My setup:
- AVR: Denon X3800H
- Fronts: Elac BS243.4 Bookshelf
- Center: Elac BS241.4
- Surround: Elac DBR62 (to be used later as Back Surround)
- Subs: SVS SB3000 + 2000Pro
- All speakers are within 2 meters of the listening position
Any suggestions are welcome.
