If I didn't already have a pair of Revel M106 I would pull the trigger on these (actually the passive radiator version Erin reviewed) immediately!
sure but it’s very challenging to get it to work so well as we see here. It can do lots of damage if not hitting it right.Pretty standard tool in the “bag of tricks” available to speaker manufacturers. Many brands use similar phase plugs.
Well it's not like it's putting out distortion-less subwoofer bass anyway. Like you said - trade offs.with higher sensitivity you would have less bass extension. always a trade off.
YupNo European dealer except for Purité in the UK, correct?
OK—so if we order directly from the website, then we are responsible for paying import duty, should it be assessed by U.S. customs? There is currently no distributor or dealer in the United States.
Never mind, I see this is explained above. The price now includes shipping but in respect of tariffs / taxes payable by US consumers:
Probably worth US consumers waiting a few weeks (before ordering) to see how the recent decision on blanket tariffs (being illegal) plays out. Might save a chunk of change should the decision be upheld in higher courts.
- Landed before 9th July: $725 list +extra 10% tariff / tax ($72.50) paid by consumer when it lands.
- Landed 9th July onwards: $725 list +extra 25% tariff ($181.25) paid by consumer when it lands.
How did they get that deep dip at 1.1 kHz in the woofer response? XO with a notch filter? Or the peak at 1.5 kHz which is only 15 dB down from the averaged passband level a cone mode? I don't think so because there is no corresponding distortion peak.
Voting for Audiophonics to cover the EU
Yeah, disappointingNo European dealer except for Purité in the UK, correct?
Yeah, disappointing
For the life in me, I don't understand why this is still such a big deal to so many people.
Back in the old days, speaker sensitivity was important because amplifier power was scarce.
This is no longer the issue. It is so ridiculously silly to be talking about speaker sensitivity and low impedance as some sort of hurdle.
Go get yourself a Buckeye Class D amp for cheap and your done.
In today world, speaker sensitivity and low impedance is the no brainier area to sacrifice if you need design trade off's.
Not trying to be funny, but I haven't seen such a speaker ....82db/1w in a 20x25 room....sitting in the far-field? Name drop for me, as this is interesting to me. Maybe the Totem Mani 2 (I'm telling my age now), but those were hard to drive as well.I have some speakers that are 82db/1watt and they get stupid loud in a 20'x25' living room with an A07. Definitely best to ignore sensitivity nonsense.
