There is a thin foam on the bottom. When placing it on a stand, it will be slightly compressed. This material is a little bit sticky. I would leave it.

They are actually hard to move around on a stand, because it is so grippy (they also weight 27.5 KG a piece). Does not need additional fixing on an appropiately sized stand, that the base of the stand is wide enough is much more important.

Good to know. I'm thinking to get the Monoprice 4 post stand, and get a custom top plate fabricated for this that's maybe 8.5x11 just to hide it a bit (although maybe it will look sloppier than a perfectly sized plate).

I finally got to audition these speakers at TAA 2026! Had a nice chat with the rep—turns out almost everyone came by after seeing them on ASR, just like me. Over here, the brand isn't quite as well-known as those legacy audio giants that have been around for decades, but they definitely earned their reputation!

There is no reason to take anything away from an estimated in room response below 100Hz. The only thing that matters there is output, the frequency response is going to depend on your room. If you're looking at a speaker like this without room correction that would be a strange detour, in my opinion.
I doubt there will be any improvement without room correction for any speaker. You have two objectively top performing speakers failing and the C8C in particular is ruler flat from 40-18K with IR peaks of only 1db with a gentle optimal slope. There is little reason to expect anything different from other great products unless you get something that falls off quickly at 100hz. Which would make it not a top performer and not a very good speaker IMO.
If you don’t want to use EQ, you can treat the room with bass traps and padding behind the speakers per AsciLab’s recommendations.
The impression of actual owners of the C8C is that they are great. The test data suggests the same. Between subjective and objective raves it is clear this model is excellent and a worthy basis for room correction.

Too much bass is much easier to deal with than too little.
If you really want to dial in bass response to your own preference - dsp/eq is the only solution. You can even have multiple curves/profiles to switch between.
The C8C hypex fusion plate amps have PEQ function which is probably enough to get what you want.
Sounds like a room mode at 41Hz?
No out of the box speaker without EQ will address that, but some speakers with rolled off bass extension will excite the mode less and might sound better.

Notice that the Hypex FA253 amp module used for the C8C also has PEQ capability. You have to measure manually using, e.g., REW, then choose your PEQ settings and enter them manually into the amp module using Hypex HFD software:

When ordering a pair or C8Cs, is there a way to know beforehand which firmware version they will be delivered with? Can the dealer (audiophonics.fr) look at a list of serial numbers / batches and determine the firmware version? Is it stamped on the packaging? Has any C8C with firmware v1.1 left the factory at all?
I think they are likely shipping with it now. If you buy them you will be able to tell once you initialize the speakers with a pc... the Hypex software has the version number listed. If you get the v 1.0, they will update for you online... they just updated mine for me and it was painless, took about 10-12 minutes or so I think.

A question for those who’ve listened to versions 1.0 and 1.1:
I’m still on version 1.0 – what difference did the 1.1 update make for you? In terms of sound quality? Or usability? Is it worth it?

I am confused. You have the answer to your question in the first post of this thread.
Updated two weeks ago, realistically you will not hear a difference from memory. Maybe if you could switch from 1.0 to 1.1 with press of a button while listening you would hear it, but not when "remembering" what you heard a week ago.
I also did new Dirac Measurements since then, they look basically the same, differences between mike positions etc. will have more impact here than the software update. I also planned on doing REW measurements before / after, but then forgot about it, it was 7 AM when I had the date with Korea
So subjectively, no, it won't be something that will make you go "wow this is better", but Ascilab says it's an update that gives small improvements, and it's free, so...

Updated my set a week ago. Had been waiting to see if more updates were coming, but V1.1 seems to be the perfect firmware.
