No. Keith made sure of that.

I hope you find some other speakers that you are happy with.

To be honest, in the end you may have dodged a bullet. I'm not a rich man and I'd be very leary to fork over $6k for a pair of speakers from a startup company that only have a 3 year warranty, especially powered ones.

Being here in the USA I'd take a chance on a pair of C6Bs at their price since they aren't powered. Plus, I know I can trust Amir...

I'd stick with Dutch & Dutch 8c's. Tried and proven. May cost more but you get more and they measure extremely well.

I almost pulled the trigger on the D&D 8c's. The funny thing is I can remember when they were first released and similar warnings about reliability, new company etc. were being thrown around. Now they are the reference!

Curious as to what "more" you get? The D&D 8C do measure exceptionally well, and having heard them many times they sound incrddible. But so do the C8C, still awaiting the BX8C which should take to next level.

Though it was already attenuated -6 to 9dB, we found the way to reduce the lobbing more without any side effects. Only a little bit wider beam width as you see though the difference is less than 5 deg.

Yes it is “on purpose”. Sorry for the typo.
The side woofer doesn’t produce clean curve which makes “not” clean directivity.
Excellent work!

Assume a new EQ profile will be made available to dealers and owners?

‘Upstart’,
‘a person who has risen suddenly in rank or importance, especially one who behaves arrogantly.’
Half right I suppose AsciLab have quickly risen in importance and rank but they are the furthest thing from arrogant.

Company will be remotely loging into customer machine and perform the upgrade.

Do active cardioid speakers with built-in DSP (like C8Cs) benefit meaningfully from Dirac Live over simple PEQ for room correction?

Depends on your skill with measurement and PEQ creation. Personally I would measure the room below 200 Hz, and then apply a couple of PEQs to prominent peaks and call it done. :)

you solved my question right there Amir, thanks a lot

Hello,

I have another question, this time regarding the specific layout of my listening room...

I only have one side wall in my listening room; the other side of the room opens onto another room.

Would this layout affect the C8C’s cardioid response, or is this type of speaker actually ideal for such a setup?

If not, would it be better to opt for another model, such as the S6B?

(I can post a photo if my description isn’t clear enough...)

And please don’t ask me to move my speakers elsewhere, otherwise my wife will ask me to move further away myself with them!!

More controlled directivity hides more the room. C8C would be better choice for your room.

Here are the Max SPL datas of each model and presets.
See how loud it can produce as C8C itself and even be improved up to +10dB with BX8C.

Hey @AsciLab - I have two questions:

1. C8C has this small bump in the 5KHz area and I was wondering what is the technical reason for it? (out of curiosity). What would be the recommended way to mitigate it? I remember you mentioned slightly tilting speakers 10 degrees or so but is it better to EQ it instead with the Apex software?
2. Is there any ETA for S8C (and the estimated price)? Has your roadmap been updated for this year?

Thank you

It’s because of the combination of waveguide and baffle diffraction. Optimum baffle width for that waveguide fits to 5” woofer. So wider baffle makes a bit ripple around 2-6kHz. But it is easily tamed by 10 deg toe out that also has wider sound stage.

Sorry if this is a dumb question! I was wondering if the future bass extention module needs to be placed under the speaker as in the pictures, or it could be placed elsewhere in the room. I guess that for the cardioid response to work they probably need to be set exactly as intended but there may be other benefits to different placement.

Also in my current room, I could not set them up as intended!

The BX8C really improves the vertical directivity of the C8Cs when placed underneath.

I clicked
Order placed...
This is definitely the first time I've made such a purchase without even listening to it once!! (Usually my indecision forces me to listen to it at least two or three times...)
Thanks to the community and Ascilab for answering all my questions...
I’ll be sure to let you know how accurate your answers were!! :p
