Ascilab C6B & F6B Launched – Ask Questions, Share Feedback

I am a bit disappointed tbh, the signal travels from speaker cable to brass to iron nut to iron washer through 2 cm iron strip. I am not going to chew out here why that is bad, Oh well, it will be upgrade for me since I planned to replace binding post anyway, I just have to solder a bit.

Sorry for you feeling disappointed.
We’ll try to find a way to solve that problem, loosening and material both.
Hope you find right size of binding post.

It is no biggie, the nut was loose, I tightened it and it is ok now. I rotated the cups so the cables go directly down instead of going first up and down again. That is already big improvement for me. I will run the replacement binding posts like that. I still enjoy the speakers very much, keep up the good work.

Hi quick question about the C6B, my banana plugs are 20mm long and the binding post only take 10mm, they stick out too much and are not that secure. So I unscrewed the caps and put the plugs in the holes. I noticed one of the post turns with the cap as you screw it down, no biggie I just held the plug to prevent it from turning. It works quite good but I really like the idea of being able to plug and unplug with bananas. I am think of replacing the posts with longer ones, what is the diameter of posts when they enter the cup please? I don't want to dismantle just to measure. Will M6 work?

edit: they are M4 and should be very easy to swap out without soldering if you get M4 replacements. Lets hope I can find a longer ones in that size.
I noticed the same thing with one of mine. Keep us posted when you find a longer post.

These right angle locking banana plugs work great for all my speakers, c6b included. they fit my 10 awg wire well too

yeah, i have different, smaller kind of pre-fab right angles. works well.

hey, would it actually be physically possible that if those ones you have there turned towards each other too much, they could actually touch and short??

I ordered some and will post fitment once they are here.

In the mean time I am running like this.

(Sorry for the arrows, good cables though)

edit: might as well show the tuning of the pr for my room too

When you say "tuning of the passive radiator", I'm not following what has been changed. Can you please point out what has been changed and also what impact the tuning has? Thank you.

If you add weight to the PR it's resonance frequency will become lower; if you reduce weight that is attached to the PR it's RF will become higher.

Thank you for the info. Very interesting! What would be the magnitude of change that would be measured vs. the weight added? Perhaps this could be ported over to another thread.

Yes adding (or removing) weight changes the behavior of the pr. Short shorty, my speakers went from boomy and needing to eq to not boomy without eq by adding 10g (the second ring). Look at it as a volume knob, you add weight the pr gets less loud, remove weight and the pr gets louder. You can open a thread in DIY if you want, I don't have measurements but I could share stuff like how to loosen and tighten the bolt without damaging the spider.

Has anyone used C6B or F6B in nearfield/desktop setups? is it suitable? or are they too large?

They really aren’t that big, I have used both at 1m-1.5m without issue.
F6B 40 x 20.3 x 26.5cm
Below F6B/S next to First Audio Fidelia which is truly diminutive.

I'm using c6b in my desktop setup. it's great. tweeters are two feet above my ears and no issues

I just can't bring myself to ever go back to passive speakers. Actives with XLRs are so convenient.
Are you at all concerned with your actives (especially those with active DSP) failing or having reduced longevity vs. passives? I just had a pair of Eve SC208s fail on me and now I'm paranoid about my HEDD Type 20 MK2s failing in the coming years. I figure a nice pair of passives will last me decades or however long I own them before they're sold.

Silly question but I noticed the slope on the F6B in Amir's review is slightly more steep than the C6B in Erin's review. Do the F6B have a warmer tonal characteristic than the C6B?

I've never had actives fail. My current speakers are 5 years old. Sold the rest.

Hard to say about longevity for passives. Surrounds and crossovers commonly fail.

Regardless, I prefer the performance advantages and ease of use that come with actives.

The curves are very similar in the high mids and treble range, it would be more accurate to say that the F6B has a mid bass bump compared to the C6B that offsets the curve positioning.
