Ascilab C6B & F6B Launched – Ask Questions, Share Feedback

@T.T. Are you able to take some pictures of that paintwork?

In terms of look and feel, slightly disappointed. I have matte black version, I expected the finish to be smooth, but it is a bit grainy and you can feel tiny paint specks. It is a "fingerprint magnet" and it takes effort to clean. There is a thin foam glued to the bottom of the speaker, I would prefer to have the foam/isolation on the stand rather than speaker. The cover ring around the woofer protrudes a bit. But yeah, nitpicking, it looks fine, just doesn't ooze premium.
I also have the matte black verson. It does have a grainy feel, but IMO it is less of a "fingerprint manget" than many glossy finishes that I have encountered. And I find it easy to clean with a dry cotton washcloth (something with a slightly nubbly texture) applied with a bit of pressure. Also, the bottom of the cabinet is not "foam" but a rubbery substance (my guess is neoprene) that indents very little when pressed with a finger. And on my two samples, the protrusion of the woofer ring is less than 1mm.

I am looking into ordering the C6B from Audiophonics. As my amplifier is quite aged 30 year old Sony TA-F 800 ES, I am also looking for a good matching amplifier, preferably class-D.
Anyone having a recommendation? I think something in between a Wiim Amp pro and a NAD C3050. I know the price range is quite wide, but I am willing to spend the money if it is worth it. The NAD seems to convert any signal to digital so I don't know if it is worth the money compared to something cheaper in terms of Audio quality.

I am no real authority to respond, and I'm a "cheapskate" - need/want balanced? may as well have it. if just basic amplification:
Fosi ZA3?
or two of them, or two V3 Mono for monoblockery.

most of all though, do you have ample parametric Eq available elsewhere in chain?
if not, the WiiM makes a lotta sense.

@t3chie I went with
1x fosi audio zd3
2x fosi audio za3

And currently without speakers, waiting for the c6b....

I use and really like the 3e A7 stereo. Prefer it to the Fosi monos.

Hello T.T.
I’m sincerely sorry for your inconvenience experience of our product.
That stain on the ring is not our reference.

We’d like to send you a new trim ring. Would you let me know your order number or name and address? You can DM me in ASR.

Thank you for sharing your impression.

Aren't the Fosi ZA3 and V3 load dependant? That is what makes me look at the NAD because those hypex modules are nice...

And is the power enough for the C6B - that is my main question actually. I do not have a large room for listening, it is 25 sm and I don't need obsessive high volumes, just a fair volume to listen to.

Don't buy a NAD and wait for the C6C's

I did not notice difference with za3+c6b / various class AB+c6b
Yeah I suspect PFFB is a "Nice to have", and perhaps why not have it, if the price isn't outrageous, but some load dependency is probably benign in practice. And as usual, if you have Eq available, a non-issue.

What would you choose between a new c6b vs used kef r3 meta for roughly the same price? I'm seeing a used pair and its getting tempting since the wait for the c6b is quite long.

I'm a C6B owner and I have never heard the R3, but in your situation I'd go for the R3, because it's well engineered and it's available. You can always resell later (likely at little to no loss) if/when the C6B is available again and if you still want to give it a try.

Obviously the ideal is to listen to both in your own space.
Keith
