Ascend Acoustics Sierra LX Review

Thanks - large room. I've got one SVS SB-1000 sub but plan on adding a second. I've got a Hypex ncore 252 amp for the front L/R. Mostly HT use.

Are you looking to get 5x or more of the same speaker all around? Or maybe just the front 3x speakers? For home theater with 1-2 subs, the S1 v2 would be a good solution. LX might perform a little better for you, if the extra money isn't an issue.

Just front L/R for now. I plan on keeping my existing center (for now) and don't plan on adding any surrounds.

How loud do you listen and how far do you sit? My personal preference is to always get the largest speakers in consideration, as I prefer to have the increased headroom and (oftentimes) sensitivity.

In that scenario (HT with multiple subs) I'd go, imo, with the S1V2 (same metal dome tweeter, as mentioned) and use the price differential (to the LX) for the subs.

Disclaimer: I've heard the referenced dome tweeters and the ribbons, but not the LX woofers.

I heard @AscendDF is working on a Luna version of the LX using the Titan dome tweeter. Can't wait to see how it measures. Could be a nice space-saving solution for surrounds or nearfield when combined with a subwoofer.

Would very much like to see these reviewed by either Amir or Erin. There must be an owner who could spare them for a month so either of those guys could get this on the Klippel and measure it. In particular, it would be great to see how these guys compare with things like Neumann KH150's, March Audio Sointuva's, and Ascii A6B's in their distortion at higher volumes.

It's been stated before but Ascend provides kippel measurements and it has been shown to be redundant to have Amir or Erin repeat those measurements.

Sierra-lx doesnot have Titan done tweeter?

LX distortion graphs can be seen here:

I have a second pair of Sierra LX. I get to listen to them in two different acoustic environments, due to circumstances. They sound good in both places.

The current Luna has the RAAL ribbon tweeter. A version using the Titan dome tweeter (similar to the LX) is being developed. Sorry if it wasn't clear.
The perfect surround option for folks who don't have room for sierra v1s

I may put mine for sale, as I'm leaning towards listening to my jbls(hdi-1600 and 580) all the time and frankly I love horn tweeter while midrange and especially lows are better in the LX. I would like investment the money in JBL 698.
If anyone is interested, let me know. I could do a eBay(where I have a good rating as a seller) listing so you don't have to just trust some random guy from forum, I wouldn't.
Speakers are in the same new condition that I received them from the company. With magnetic covers.
United States only.
Thanks

Given that Ascend's measurements of the Sierra-1 match up with independent ones, I think it is safe to say that the various Klippel measurements would line up with the LX. Dave's track record is impeccable, and I can't imagine he would ever be foolish enough to damage his credibility.

Ascend might want to get with Pierre (Spinorama) and get the Luna V2 (ribbon) Klippel data posted. The V1 wasn't quite as, ahem, impeccable.
