Once again is Danny hyping a position that is hypocritical. He sells speakers with tweeters that cross around 2 kHz. If using a full range driver and crossing lower was such a major sound improvement, why are none of the major vendors doing so? If true, they could have been doing so decades ago.

In another bit of hypocrisy, his full range has a major resonance around 14 kHz. Danny criticizes the Ascend for having a 2 db droop at 20 kHz. His LGK has a 5 dB peak at 14 kHz and is much more audible. As have mentioned before, this hype all seems to be another attempt to move his inventory of crappy LGK drivers.

The beauty here is that we have a forum that helps counter such pseudoscience with real science, facts and logic.

Imagine if there is no ASR? This world would be infested with BS from the likes of Danny.

Looks like Dave got a hold of Danny's mod and has been posting some data on it. Klippel data is coming but for now it's photos of parts and measurements of the filters tasks for the tweeter. Long story short, Ascend is confident the mod will result in the user having dead tweeters.

Like all con artists, they attack people when their BS are called out.

I think for the majority of the members here, with snake oil salesmen and con artists of the likes of Danny Ritchie are irrelevant to us, because they can never do any harm to us, they can never con us, yes, while they can be a nuance, but I'm going to not let myself get too worked by this village idiot. Instead, I am just keep going to dislike his videos, that is tangible what I can do to screw with his con artistry.

Oh yes, I definitely want 10dB of additional H3 dominated distortion because he's screwed up the crossover to the tweeter. Can't imagine how nasty that looks if you go to 96dB (assuming the ribbon isn't destroyed at that level).

Danny put out some long video responding to Ascends stuff that I refuse to watch. He also seems to be resorting to religion in the comments as a sort of assurance to his viewers that he could never lie as the lord looks down upon it. I mean the dude is from Texas so it all kind of makes sense.

I quoted the RAAL response in the comments section and it’s still up. The replies from Dannybots were one using grok to explain why Danny is correct and the other says the RAAL people are upset that Danny has shown RAAL has only one good tweeter. Comedy gold!

Your website will open you up to getting frivolous lawsuits from people of the likes of Eric Alexander and Ted Denney.

Anyway, this is even more of a reason why this topic should be actively discussed on ASR and other forums, like AVSForum. So that Danny Ritchie is not controlling his falsehood narrative.

Again, Danny's con artistry is completely irrelevant to the majority of people here, but I personally take pleasure in interfering with con artists' ploys. There is satisfaction in it, which is why I always dislike every video that Danny puts out, his army of social media scrubbers can undo my dislikes.

And frankly, I don't think Danny has a large customer nor fan base, Dave is suspicious that Danny's claim of a "customer" sending him the Ascend EX for the "upgrade" because Dave is unable to track down which customer it is and Danny's had the speaker for a month after the upgrade, why has he not returned it to the customer? We already know for a fact that Danny uses a social media company to manage the comments on his YT videos, I believe they also write fake positive comments too.

This is the con artists' playbook:

• Boost and boast their credentials with the utmost confidence, where such credentials are largely made up. In case of Danny, the number of customers and fans he's got. This is a called fake it, till you make it.
• Attack those who calls out their BS. And do so by discrediting them. Funny, the guy discredited the capabilities of the NFS.
• Create fake case studies, customer accounts/testimonials.
• Use technobabble that seems plausible to the average person.

This Danny guy really has nothing better to do. In one of his video he said only one person brought his crossover upgrade, and he suspects it was Dave who asked one of his customer to buy it so that Dave can set it up to test. This accusation may or may not have any merit. But only ONE customer brought the upgrade? I really wonder how good or bad Danny's business really is, can't be that good if he has to spent that amount of time creating, marketing a crossover "upgrade" for one speaker model. I just don't understand why don't the guy start a real, legitimate business, why is he running this troll business.

Wonder if Dave is going to take him up on his generous offer. This is worth watching from start to finish. Sure put's a different light on things for me. As a DIY I do understand the importance of top quality parts vs budget.

There is a thread about what role does listening have in the role speakers design. That thread was treading between subjectivism and objectivism.

I'm not trying to change the topic of this Ascend owner's lounge, but I am listening to my ELX RAAL right now, I just want to say I appreciate linear flat on-axis anechoic response with excellent horizontal directivity. The beauty of a linear, flat speaker with gear directivity, I can EQ it for whatever I'm on the mood for.

Once I've seen the "light", I don't think I can over go back to the 80's and 90's of voodoo black magic in speakers design.
