I’m thinking to use it as AirPlay receiver to be added as new room in my Apple Home app..I had this device in my system for a month and listened to it paired with the optical output to a Sabaj A30a amplifier. Amir's measurements do indeed indicate a lack of refinement, but its sound was simply decent. As a digital transport, it sounded no worse than, say, a Wiim Mini. The device is quite responsive. I didn't experience any issues. As part of a budget system, it might be sufficient and doesn't deserve such devastating reviews. Of course, it also has some rather unfortunate flaws: the USB port, limited to 1000 files, is a completely unnecessary addition, and the display, even in the "desktop" category, is almost unreadable and could easily be omitted. The savings made here would have been better spent on improving other components. But marketing probably prevailed: we have a display and USB!
€46,000 for a DAC that is in four separate pieces. Talk about the opposite of simplification!… ( Google totaldac for high end crap)
We need to hook up the Audalytic LP10 to the TotalDAC D1-Six and then output to a tube preamp feeding a tube power amp and see how we measure!!!Here is review of an older product https://www.audiosciencereview.com/...and-measurements-of-totaldac-d1-six-dac.8192/
This my experience as well, great sound, not even a big difference with an external DAC.I had this device in my system for a month and listened to it paired with the optical output to a Sabaj A30a amplifier. That was my OG use case, feeding recent Wiim like Ultra which no longer support AP2. I avoid iFruit in general but my teen daughter is in the cultI’m thinking to use it as AirPlay receiver to be added as new room in my Apple Home app..
Wiim Ultra and Ultra AmpI do not see streamers with built-in DSP like arylic.
All the Wiim streamers? Many of the free software streamers, whether PC, Pi or other SBC?I do not see streamers with built-in DSP like arylic.
Thanks! These have room correction as well. And adjustable sub out, seldom found with that control. That was my OG use case, feeding recent Wiim like Ultra which no longer support AP2. I avoid iFruit in general but my teen daughter is in the cult
Wiim Ultra and Ultra Amp
Apple Play input, hence this thread. What else do you need? one piece of equipment, and some speakers.
Exactly. So, one tiny streaming unit with the required protocols, and a few speakers.Apple Play input, hence this thread.
Also, old Wiim or Apple TV units are cheap, can ARC output to Wiim Ultra
No Qobuz app on Apple TV.Apple Play input, hence this thread.

If you mean add on streaming boxes, I can’t find the NAD CS1 stocked anywhere so it may be discontinued. All the Yamaha MusicCast add on boxes are discontinued. The HEOS Link HS2 may still be available.Exactly. So, one tiny streaming unit with the required protocols, and a few speakers.
WiiM amp ultra for passive, and Wiim ultra for active speakers.
NAD, yamaha, denon and marantz (==denon) also have these products.
Indeed. Furthermore, Marantz M1 and Denon Home Amp have full-fledged DIRAC Live support (without the gain issues present in the NAD devices) along with AirPlay and ARC inputs and subwoofer output/bass management.Exactly. So, one tiny streaming unit with the required protocols, and a few speakers.

With traditional speakers, nothing else needed. I settled for genelec, active. So, I just need streamer with DSP or dirac. From sound perspective, neumann would be great as well. However, neumann gear is much deeper. Active speakers avoid the production tolerances of passive cross-over components, not seen that discussed here. Combined with tolerances of drivers, this can add up to significant cross-over issues. Proper cross-over is critical for good spinorama. My first manager (1990, after his acoustical research career) explained to me how to do design cross-overs, minimizing the impact of component tolerances. In the early days, they used a concept called echo chamber, measuring energy instead of a full spinorama.Indeed. Eve Play also provides lossless Apple Music via its digital outs.Another option for Airplay is to attach a DDC like an SMSL PO100 Pro to the USB output of an iPad or a modern iPhone w/USB-C, then optical from the PO100 Pro to the WiiM Ultra's optical input
or Apple TV's ARC outputs lossless Apple Music to WiiM Ultra
