Come on Sal1950! It'd look like a "living room PA" and the sofa could be your "FOH"! Having watched Youthman's video on YT, they actually don't look as imposing as I was thinking they would. I really like the idea of not having subs and just a "clean" 2ch look and hiding the surrounds and heights in wall/ceiling. But that center, (cause I mean, you'd HAVE to get it right?!?) would be a tad difficult to "cabinet" around.

Each to their own like I said. I would never think of spending that much money on a multich music system and compromise it's performance with hidden surrounds, but thats just me.
Yep that 11.5" tall center will require some thinking to "cabinet". I had to use some custom parts in building my Pangea TV-Component stand to increase the height of the center shelf to accommodate my big JBL HDI-4500. Specially after using some wedges to tilt them up in front and align the horn to the seated ear. You do whatever it is needing done, or get a sound bar. LOL

Regarding costs of building overseas, unfortunately it is tremendously expensive to build in first-world markets.

Whatever the added cost of building in the home market, when offered to me that's what I choose and pay the cost.

As I noted, I encouraged Arenal to think about tilting solutions. DIY with 80KG speaker and forces inside it at 105bB is pretty unheard of. Our current centers look like small children for for physics of the movement of this monster one. Tilt it upwards and not sure what will be needed to keep it from sliding back.

I am equally excited that this center exists and in this price range as has real potential. I have sufficient space in my setup to accommodate it without any modifications, except I need a solid upwards tilt solution from Arendal.

Regarding costs of building overseas, unfortunately it is tremendously expensive to build in first-world markets. Look no further than the cost of homes/apartments in metropolitan areas. The US has a very LARGE percentage of people with lots of disposable income that drives the costs of everything up. Is it outpacing the have nots? Absolutely but one look at the DOW's close over the previous 5 years and well, there's no end in sight. You'd be asking a manufacturer to lose out on profits out of philanthropy. Not likely.

While this is not an economic forum, IMO the only reason why US is doing so well is pretty simple. Print trillions in debt and it works. But the question is up to what point. And that question is being asked more and more frequently. DOW is derivative of the same philosophy. And standard SEC disclosure is that prior performance does not guarantee future returns.

There is definitively end in sight. But as we apparently live in multiverse, we might get lucky, and should prey, that in ours it does not happen as it would not only devastate US financial markets but the global ones as well.

As you start digging into the details you can see a few things that are definitely not accidental.

All the speakers have the same port tuning, same tweeter/mid drivers and spacing, same baffle width, and same crossover points.

What we can see is the baffle step losses are centered at the LF/MF crossover point. This may allow them to forgo any baffle step compensation circuit and reduce the number of components in the signal path. This may also allow them to use identical crossovers with different padding on the MF/HF circuits to match the LF output. Add it all up, and each speaker should sound nearly identical just quieter.

This looks worse than it actually is - it's really pretty much +/- 2dB except for the peak up near 20k.

Sorry but the DOW has been going strong since 1984. If the end is in sight, I hope you bought low and can sell high. Been earning 8-10% on my investments for over 30 years. I'll worry about something else other than the world is ending. Like buying new mains for instance. Ones that I feel represent good value for what I deem important like sound, build quality, and warranty. Check the rain barrels, feed the chickens, and inventory the canned goods!

Time will tell for the 1528 line, when modern comparable measurements start to show up from Amirm, Erin, Audioholics, Stereophile ; the truth will be revealed. If the same relatively high quality numbers come up these could end up a real leader in the bracket.

That center channel speaker could be a real winner for a quality multich music system.


Absolutely, each to their own but I wouldn't want huge boxes like these in my living room painted plain black or white.

It seems, from the configuration, that the dispersion pattern may be similar to a Perlisten.

We will have to see the distortion, spl and frequency range, but considering Arendal's past speakers, it may actually turn quite nice.

In a HT environment, considering the subwoofers they make, it can be a blast.

Too bad you have not invested in gold for the last year. Could have made you rich Your DOW is a bit more now than it was in 2021. BTW when you see gold moving like this you need to worry, at least a bit. Shorting the oil might also make you rich. Many things our there that people can invest in and make significant returns.

I agree with your sentiment, though.

My current multichannel speakers have a very nice cherrywood color, something that KEF has ditched (I think they do wallnut these days) and I actually prefeer.

That said, if I could spend the cost of these new Arendals, I´d be quite dubious about them, KEF´s or Perlistens.

Same here, I love the walnut veneer on my JBL HDI's, they did a beautiful job on the finish. Only the 4 SVS Elevation Atmos ceiling mounts are in white,
which is probably better as it allows them to not jump out and bite you against the white ceiling. (as if they could ever really disappear. LOL. Luckily I've remained a bachelor for the last 30 years and don't have any WAF to deal with ).

Haven't read that but early on, I could have sworn that they shared the same designers. Now, Arendal is really adamant that they have their own design team and everything was developed in-house. I bet they share more than just the same factory in China but to what degree? Who knows. They are both built like tanks that each provide good products for the price.

I think they are seriously overpriced considering that they’re made in China where the cost of labor is much cheaper than the US, Japan or Europe

Not sure if this qualifies for review though . There are some statements that are quite out of the field. I stopped watching at 4:00 min or so when he notes these are 3-4 times better than 1723. Not sure if e.g. S7t was/is that much better.
