Arendal 1528 high end speakers

At first glance, the tweeter waveguide reminded me of the Neumann tweeter waveguide. :)

1528 Bookshelf.

Uh… It seems like the designer loses and engineer wins this time.

IMO, it looks like designer made tower8, than engineers pressed it down to make the monitors.

The towers looks exceptional with quality parts.

XO point between midrange and woofer is bit high for my taste (I prefer numbers below 300hz), but for large rooms its better for high SPL handling maybe.

Center speaker with four 8"s? That's just amazing.

Home theater with those 8"s and some DOS 14" would be absolute killer...

I would literally die for it, if I wasn't living in an apartment.

I think Arendal is taking a serious risk here, provided the "sound signature" must be extremely different than their previous designs...

I didn’t even read the subjective review, only looked at the measurements. Meh. But, agree they aren’t terrible.
Ah! There are some measurements hidden far away in the image slider  .

The midrange looks a bit rough, otherwise fairly okay. But these measurements are in-room, so I wouldn’t draw too many conclusions from it. It possibly shows some strange off-axis anomalies if I compare to some of the other speakers measured there. All in all, not super conclusive.

Need to get a pair over to Amir and/or Erin!

Looks pretty cool
Pricey! Guess it goes with they new mantra

“A GAME-CHANGER IN HIGH-END AUDIO.”

Pricing is as follows:

1528 Tower 8 = 9500 euro
1528 Monitor 8 = 5900 euro
1528 Bookshelf 8 = 4500 euro
1528 Center 8 = 2900 euro
1528 Center+ 8 = 4700 euro
1528 Slim 8 = 3500 euro
Ouch I guess they now are just another pricey brand! Selling direct their profit margins must be very good! Especially since they are made in China

After giving it some more thought, the mega center could be very problematic to tilt as no stand or screw-in rubber feet are included in design. While I have done it with 25 kg center, that might not work with this one.

To the extent you need tilting, you will need to give it some serious thought. Not having that provided out of the box is a bit odd and might be a blind spot for some installations. Honestly, a serious design fault IMO and unless resolved unlikely this will come to my HT despite my desire to pursue the hunt for the greater center speaker.

Near-field installation will need a tilt if display is installed properly at eye level hitting close to half height of display. Given the limited size of flat screens (even at 115” now), near field installation will be preferred to achieve visual immersion. Someone at Arendal should have thought better through practical installation issues.

For such a large center with 4x8” the extension is also what makes you wonder where the size of cabinet and drivers was utilised as advantage. We obviously don’t have the measurements so there could be a good story explaining why and what.

It's per pair.

Pretty steep for what they appear to be, but I will wait to judge until I see measurements... I know the brand has a good reputation.
I just checked the web, and they are taking an intelligent approach, at least as to the slims, which are IMO the most interesting in the line by far (says the Gem2 owner…). They will sell a pair, a trio, or full immersive sets.

I think that are aspiring to compete against Performa BE - at lower price point. But they are more expensive than Perlisten Reference towers. Where they end up in performance, we shall see.

Audio Science Review. There is a science to Psychoacoustics which is the branch of psychophysics involving the scientific study of the perception of sound by the human auditory system. To base everything on ONE in-room response measurement and proclaim a speaker line as "meh" is why most people instantly disregard this site and the great work done here. Arendal speakers have been measured by Erin, James Larson, and Amir and were found to be very good. How about we wait to proclaim how something sounds until we can get both objective anechoic measurements AND subjective perceptions on sound quality. Jeez. P.S. EVERYTHING is made in China.
