Arendal 1528 high end speakers

If nothing else I certainly like the aesthetic, the prism woofer with the inverted surround looks great. Midwoofer molded into the tweeter waveguide to bring them closer together reminds me of Perlisten, though it's a more traditional design here. I wonder what the pricing is going to be on those, given that their current 1723 tower flagships are €3,799/Pair. €5000 would be nice to see, but realistically it will probably be more. Hopefully we'll eventually get independent measurements for at least the bookshelfs.
Interesting that they've decided to go for a flagship series first instead of replacing their discontinued 1961 budget line first.

I'm also guessing they'll be higher priced than 5k but I'm more curious about the bookshelf model. As an owner of a pair of the 1723 Monitor I don't think they're the value they were when they launched. I understand prices increased across the board for manufacturers, but they've adjusted theirs several times now. I don't see them as over priced but fairly priced when compared to the competition.

I've read and Audioholics said Dan Roemer the CEO and cofounder of Perlisten designed the Arendal speakers for them so that would make sense that they would bring in some technology.

The Perlisten-style array may probably benefit a center speaker quite a lot.

1528 Bookshelf.

Uh… It seems like the designer loses and engineer wins this time.

Pricing is as follows:

1528 Tower 8 = 9500 euro
1528 Monitor 8 = 5900 euro
1528 Bookshelf 8 = 4500 euro
1528 Center 8 = 2900 euro
1528 Center+ 8 = 4700 euro
1528 Slim 8 = 3500 euro

Today, Arendal announced a new line of their speakers that was eagerly awaited, at least by some. Pricing is high, so not for the faint of heart. No measurements yet so we can just expect validation in the future. This is a crowded space, with KEF Meta, Perlisten and Revel being some of the key players, but there is one thing that to me as HT person makes potentially huge difference:

Arendal has just released the most serious horizontal center channel available at any price (let's not discuss McIntosh $50k center). For my EU location is shows EUR 4.7K and delivery 10 days before Christmas. I am very likely to order, even without the full reviews and measurement as really impressed with the oversized design effort and the sheer size.

While there are complaints on other forums that this is excessive design, there is a whole lot of market for excessive horizontal center and it is very poorly populated. Arendal has trashed all the high end centers in spec (Revel C426 which is IMO best center offered right now, some people might also claim Perlisten S7c as best but similar in specs to Revel) by a MASSIVE margin - something I did not expect. 4x 6.5 inch drivers for Revel 4x8" driver for Arendal. Revel 263mm x 979.7mm x 358mm, vs Arendal 29.0 x 135.0 x 54.8 cm - this thing is TWICE the size essentially. 27.7kg for Revel vs 82kg for Arendal - common this is epic. Max power handling of 1kW also seems handy - this thing will go louder than anything before.

I understand that few care about the center channel, but I feel that this launch is truly EPIC because we for the first time have a true horizontal center that could be able to match the reference towers to a very, very large extent. Based on specs alone, this is way ahead of Revel and Perlisten that have been the most able companies to provide "matching" solutions for LCR. So my kudos to Arendal. I can understand that people ultimately might not care about this, but by the book, you should not have a retarded centre and huge towers - they should be of the same size and timbre to match. If you ignore that, results are honestly, at least for me, disappointing more than 80 vs. 110dB SINAD.

People looking for reference in this budget and needing to deploy horizontal center should really seriously consider this line, and I hope we get full reviews and measurements soon that will validate the performance of these new speakers.

A shame their measurements are so scarce on the website. A single on axis FR and that's it. We will have to wait for a white paper PDF (hopefully), or else ASR or Erin measuring one of them. AFAIK SoundStage has the tower in for review too.

Agreed that measurements will ultimately provide all factors for a decision, and hopefully they come in relatively soon. As noted, excited for HT purposes. Lots of great towers out there if people don’t need matching center. However, even their towers seem interesting based on specs.

The shallow bookshelf looks sweet! Hopefully the data matches the look. And there’s a grille for that woofer.

Are those prices in pairs or each?

It's per pair.

Pretty steep for what they appear to be, but I will wait to judge until I see measurements... I know the brand has a good reputation.

James Larson at Audioholics has measured nearly all their speakers and his measurements coincide with Arendals. Considering the design team for these and other speakers that have outstanding objective measurements, I'm betting their FR is pretty spot on.
