Some home theater rooms are built in function to THX reference master level.
Some films are tremendously fun @ THX reference volume.
I dig it, very. ...Tron: Legacy, Interstellar, Mad Max: Fury Road, Blade Runner 2049, 1917, ...
There's no substitute for fun reference 100 dB+ (115 on peaks) level for certain films with music scores and sound effects artistically created.
Other films much more quieter are not diminished sound quality wise. ...Roma, excellent sound effects...extremely realistic.
But yeah, THX ain't dead yet when it comes to reference for some flicks.
{I'd rather have it and not needing it than not have it and needing it.}
I sure get it.
The name THX is not a requisite because without the logo many systems superseed it for hardcore metal music, tasty heavy bass rap music. Just stay safe with your ears so that no virus enter ... like constant assault music and films soundtracks...demolition type.
That's my own personal opinion of course. Others have all various views from reference (0 dB) to way below reference (- 20 dab say).
And it depends again of your room construction, the house foundations, your mood of the day and the film/music selection plsying.
From zero to 120 dB in less than a second sharp ...
