So we are now allowed to make whatever political statements we want?
God forbid engineers should have opinions which extend beyond V=IR. Ever wonder why doctors make more money than engineers? Because they band together and look out for their own best economic interests.
Further, we don't allow discussion of religion or politics. These turn into ugly battles and at any rate, are outside of the charter of our forum.
Today i met around 15 US woman on a ferry on rented bicycles enjoying the Dutch scenery aging around their pension. So i ask (with a not serious tone) if they were considering applying for asylum.Unfortunately it works both ways. Many US citizens are now afraid to leave the country for holiday. Afraid that they won't be able to return, due to religion, gender, opinion or color. So. less tourists from the US in Europe.
They had a good laugh about it but on a more serious tone they told me that they where quite worried what is happening in the US specific fired employees from the U.S. Department of Labor's which leave the most vunerable with serious problems/consequences.Even with more mods, does not mean full or immediate coverage of every potential infraction. More can also result in more room for interpretation of something like "politics".
For that matter, not every infraction is clearly actionable and sometimes context is lacking. Recently explained to a member that his post was fine but included a pic of a politician and that violated policy. Is key as well that I (or any mod) is so enlightened as to know why something may be considered obviously political. If you report something and supply a simple "politics", the mod is left to interpret and judge. Moderation here has been pretty good but (as Amir said), it ran more open loop in the past. This resulted in different interpretations. For now, this means I try to ensure Amir is kept better informed of major moderation decisions.
I could say someone was blue. It could mean they are wearing blue, feeling depressed or something else. In some cases, this can also lead to someone to react more strongly to certain words than others. If the reaction exceeds the original post, the resulting "discussion" may be considered political and then be deleted.
Bottom line, there are different views and considerations. So, even in the best case, mods are only going to take action on blatant political posts. So, if one expects absolutely no politics, a diverse public forum is not a realistic place to realize that expectation.
In an ideal world, all moderators would be like you. Unfortunately, is it not the case that new moderators coming on board will want to prove that they are delivering "value" and thus will initially be heavily (rather than lightly) exercising their newfound deletion privileges? That's just human psychology.

It is a reply on a post from @nadkef-listenerYour post is a good example of a personal experience with political overtones. It is also off topic, so is more likely to get moderation.![]()

Can't imagen that a compesionate reply from worried US woman creates a controversy on ASR. Regarding offtopic messages on ASR whats new.
He i liked your first post on my replyYou walked in to my off topic post on moderating so excuse me while I poke at your timing!![]()
In Germany means to be blue, that somebody has drunk to much Alcohol.I could say someone was blue. It could mean they are wearing blue, feeling depressed or something else

There are some storiesI find that exceptionally difficult to take seriously. Pull the other one mate.
Is this part of some wider juicy conspiracy borrowed from a fake news forum? Or maybe it might have something remotely to do with people being detained for bringing in suitcases packed with undeclaredtoastersTopping and SMSL kit and other valuable contraband from China?
