I think this goes to the core of how our senses are effected by context and other conditions.
Yep. The really telling part for me was that explaining to the test subjects what was being done, offering them money if they got it right, and they were still not able to do so.

I think our brains/senses are to a large extent change detectors - also called neural adaptation. In effect, our senses are 'AC coupled'.

Great little video. And the video makes perfect sense, everything is relative. So people's perceptions change over time. Just as they do about audio, depending on what you listen to and which hardware you have spent time with.
