There are plenty of speakers (even kind of affordable) with HF extension up to 30-40kHz and some a bit more expensive ones up to 75kHz. I think the only point to get a super tweeter would be for the dispersion characteristics and adjustable level, the rest comes with simply better speakers. Not sure if it has to be a tweet specific tweeter for other reasons than these two?normally a tweeter HAS to pull some midrange duty. If your two way bookshelf has good high frequency extension out to 20k already then pushing the crossover with your current mid much lower might damage the current tweeter.
All a super tweeter really is, is a tweeter with great hf extension, & sensitivity/dispersion characteristics geared toward absolutely none of the midrange. They're really just tweeter specific tweeters. So it becomes a question about current hardware limitations and if you would rather just upgrade to a 3 (3.5 or 4) way design with the harmonics driver you're after
yes, because the dt300 is a popular tweeter. Its transmission is not that bad and it can be shifted low. Perfect for a 2-passenger box. I would like to "support" the very top with a super tweeter. If anyone knows the model I linked...Not familiar with DT-300 but it seems more like a mid than a tweeter by the specs and size. Are you sure you want to go one more tweeter instead of just replacing the Monacor?
If a person is using 2" CDs and horns they might be useful crossed 8-12khz.
Hello @617 and friends,
I just posted on my project thread! You would please visit my post for the details...
A new series of audio experiments on reflective wide-3D dispersion of super-tweeter sound using random-surface hard-heavy material: Part-1_Background, experimental settings, initial preliminary listening tests #912 on my thread;
Your visit and participation will be much welcome.
Let me copy-past here only two photos from there.

I must thank you because your posts inspired me to try some bullet tweeters NOT firing forward. I ended up really liking the results when some JBL clone bullet tweeters were fired straight up to the ceiling..
