Apple quietly enhanced performance on Wi-Fi 6E-compatible Macs and iPads with the release of Tahoe 26.2. The update supports 160MHz Wifi channels on 5GHz networks, significantly increasing performance between a Wi-Fi 6E-compatible router and the device.
In my case, when I'm within 20 feet of the router with a 2025 MacBook Pro M5 and a 1GB Wifi connection, WiFi download performance jumps to 915Mbps on the MBP. At 40 feet away, on a different floor the download speed advantage is still healthy at 544Mbps. This is helpful for streaming audio and movies to multiple devices. But you can see the distance away from the router can make difference.
