I noticed his driver is on sale. (I was actually looking at the 8" version originally but that one is not currently on sale.)

reg $219ea
today $170ea

I am shopping for some new drivers to play with and was wondering if anyone here has some objective and subjective experience with the driver. I am currently cross shopping this and the $80each Sb Acoustics ceramic 5".

Even on sale the Dayton is fairly pricey.
I do like the look and the Audioxpress test looks promising https://audioxpress.com/article/test-bench-dayton-audio-epique-e160cf-8-midbass-driver

I will be using whatever driver I buy from 150-175ish on up to the tweeter (1.5-2.5k) so low distortion in the midbass is excellent news but ultimate low end is not a factor. Composure/low distortion and high volume (90-105db) with music is important.

I guess I am just fishing for some conversation about the unit, I generally don't buy drivers this size than run over $100ea and this would be an indulgence.

This driver also came to my attention with its good measurements in Voice Coil. Looks like a very well designed underhung motor. The cone is also quite pretty. Haven’t seen measurements of the 8” model. Would be interested to hear your thoughts if you decide to use it...

Yes, I will deff post some info here if I buy either Epique woofer.
They both do seem very well engineered and look very high tech to boot.

OP, go look up MattP's build over on PETT, and it should shed the light you require.
I've not seen anyone else use it, but I'm not on the Pad on FB.

The SB acoustics drivers are outstanding. I have the MFC 6.5" poly version of that line in floorstanding MTMs with SS HDS tweeter. There's no cone resonances, frequency response is extremely flat, and they are very dynamic. I have no desire to upgrade. I'd imagine the ceramic similar in performance if not even better overall. SB standard line are amazing values.
