Anyone Review Topping D90III Discrete / D90 III Sabre yet ?

5V out is going to limit the volume control range you have on your amp isn't it?
There are multiple factors at play. If you’re running room correction or equalization, you’ll be dialing down pre gain in order to prevent clipping, and that eats up gain. Additionally, if you’re using amplifiers with a low gain option (lower noise) or there is only one gain but it isn’t very high, you’ll want higher output voltage from the DAC. If you are using pre gain reduction due to EQ/DSP plus low gain at the amps, for sure you want the 5V option. If you’re using amps that only have a high gain, and no EQ/DSP, then yes, use the 4V to get better use of your volume control range.

There’s a power switch on the back, next to the power connector. Switch it to off. Now press and hold on the control knob on the front while switching the power switch on the back to on again. This will put you in the setup menu where you can change numerous settings including output voltage as well as DAC only versus preamp mode.
Not via the dial/knob - just hold the button on the left and, of course, switch on with the switch on the back (previously switched off).
And @VientoB please read :) manual.

Just received my D90 III Discrete and inserted in place of my MiniDSP SHD. I was able to run everything in low gain without optimal room correction (ORC) turned on. With ORC on, I had to switch the B200s to high gain.

Roon > Bacc4mac (USB out) > D90IIID (5V, XLR out) > A90D (low gain, XLR out) > B200s (high gain)

Which software app or hardware device provides ORC?

A subjective question I know but which option would you go for..

* Eversolo A8
* Wiim Ultra > Topping D90 III D

From an objective features standpoint, the WiiM ecosystem provides unique possibilities not currently present in Eversolo's lineup. If you're looking to put together a purely stereo music setup, Eversolo provides a nice solution, especially if you are looking to listen to a larger library of music encoded in DSD format and/or much higher resolution PCM (like DXD) without downsampling, but if you're looking to do more with your setup, WiiM can be more flexible. For example, by combining a WiiM Ultra with another WiiM, like, say, a Pro Plus via grouping, it is possible to build a 2.2 setup, meaning stereo subwoofers combined with a pair of high-passed speakers, a configuration normally difficult to achieve without using something like a MiniDSP. WiiM Ultra now allows you to assemble a full 5.1 Dolby Digital surround setup as well, fed with bitstream Dolby Digital via its HDMI ARC input.

Btw, off topic, but I can't believe that ridiculous maneuver Verstappen pulled on Russell this past weekend near the end of the race. That was the dumbest, most immature reason to rack up 10 seconds and 3 license points!

Thanks.. I only and will only use it as a Stereo system…

Just wondering if there would be any difference musically :)

This hi-fi rabbit hole is becoming a problem :)

Question, just ordered a Ultra and D90 III D - connecting via USB.

Once I set up the Room Correction up in the Wiim, should I set the PEQ on the Wiim or on the D90 (D90 will be in DAC mode) ..

That depends on how you are 'feeding' the DAC. If via USB from WiiM Ultra, I recommend not using the WiiM's build-in room correction (not really that good YET). I would recommend you use REW with a good USB mic to calibrate to your room. Take the REW recommended settings and apply them to the DAC's PEQ, that way you can connect the WiiM to the DAC via USB and set the WiiM to be bitperfect. I say this because the DAC is much better with controlling distortion (the WiiM is no slouch, but the Topping unit is at the top of its game).

This of course is muddled if you plan on using the I2S input of the DAC, as the PEQ does not support that yet on the D90 III Discrete.

Thank you .. I’ll do this :)

These options are in the setup menu accessed by powering off in the back.
Power on while holding the front power/Sel button. Use the wheel to move selections and the Sel or wheel push to change options.

Ah, thank you .. appreciated

Why can both functions be checked in Tidal on the D903-discrete? On the rest of the DACs, if the top function is activated, the bottom button is automatically canceled.

The driver is ok for D90iiiDiscrete ?

Hi
I"m new to this forum and this is my first post.
Is anybody able to compare D90 III Discrete to D90 III Sabre version?
I search for such comparison on the Internet and there is none. I bumped only on one comment on YouTube which was telling that Discrete version is producing sound with more texture. But whether this "texture" can really be a distoritions?

Most likely this “texture” is in the reviewer’s imagination.
The two DACs will sound identical.
