Issue has been resolved and Apollon Audio now went above and beyond to solve the problem.

Please read below to know how much I have enjoyed my amplifier from them.

Back in November I ordered an amp From Apollon Audio the Hypex NCx500 Dual Mono. I liked their review on here and that is partly why I went with them.

My issue with them is that they won't send me the Op Amps I paid for. I spent $200 extra dollars for the Sonic Imagery 994. When I received amp it had the OP1656.

I received my amp on December 3rd and the box was heavily damaged from shipping. So one down side is that they don't double box their amps for shipping.
I decided to open the amp up to make sure nothing else was damaged. I noticed the the Op Amps I ordered where not in the amp.

This whole time I have been in contact I have been in contact with Tibor Sarkel who I thought was the owner. I talked with him prior to purchase and multiple times since over this issue. At one time he said they were sent out and they never showed up. I have contacted him 3 or 4 times over this issue with no results.

My final Email to him was at 30 days of ownership to let him know that I give up and I don't understand. Again he said he would get them out to me and still nothing.

I have been very patient but as time goes by I am now incredibly pissed and do not understand what he has to gain for taking my $200.

I'm tired of excuses. He sent me an amp from Europe to America in I believe in 3 days, might have been 4. If they are shipped I would expect a tracking number. He hasn't even offered to refund my $200 nor has asked what can I do to make this right with me. NOTHING!!!

When I deal with companies Like Rockford Fosgate, Kicker, Bryston. I get very well taken care of. If I need something small or discontinued most of the time the companies will just send it it to me. So I have a very hard time when I'm dealing with a company and they make the mistake that they are not willing rectify the issue immediately.

After the Exchange rate I paid $2700 in all for this amp. I should have had my Op Amps in the same amount of time it took to get my amp.

Besides this issue I love the Amp.

Anyone else have issues with Apollon Audio?

I'm sorry my first post to your site is a negative one. I love this site and have been reading the amp section for the last year. I love amp reviews and have really enjoyed this site.

@Apollon Audio has an account here. I don't know how often they're actually active here - and if I were them I wouldn't necessarily want to try to do individual customer service publicly - but it's possible they might jump in to this thread if they log into ASR in the near future.

Seems unusual for them to not send with the amp as ordered, or at least rectify once you contacted them. I guess there have been holiday periods, public holidays etc. which may have contributed to a delayed response.

That said, there are always two sides to a coin... so I think it's fair that @Apollon Audio is able to make comment before the pitchforks come out.

There is no need to pay extra anyway for different opamps to stock... so I'd be asking for the $200 back and call it quits.

Thank you, I'm trying to stay calm, despite the holidays total time is pushing 50 days and more than enough time to handle the issue.

I have a job where mistakes are very expensive or dangerous so my tolerance for mistakes is very low. That does not mean that I don't make mistakes but I have less compassion for them.

To me it seems like it should have been an easy fix. I will stay patient.

On the plus side this is my first Class D amp replacing my Bryston 4b SST and I couldn't be more happy with it. I had plans of purchasing another but situation is concerning to me.

I woke up to a $200 refund from Apollon Audio this morning. I would like to say Thank You and I apologize that I even had to go this route.

Again I love the amplifier. The gain structure was one of the main reasons why I went with this amp. This is my first Class D amp and I'm trying to learn more about the different implantation of parts that make up a good Class D amplifier so I can be a more informed buyer.

Thank you again.

And on the plus side you have been saved from spending $200 on op amps that would have made no audible difference.

Win Win

First and foremost, I would like to sincerely apologize again for the inconvenience caused.

Please allow me to provide you with an update on the situation. The op amps were initially shipped to you before the Christmas holidays. Unfortunately, the package was not delivered as expected. Upon discovering this, we promptly filed a complaint with our postal service to investigate the matter. After some delay, we were informed that the package was returned to us due to damage to the shipping label containing your address.

To rectify this issue, we have already sent a replacement package of the op amps, which you should receive within a few days. Additionally, as a gesture of goodwill for the inconvenience caused, we have refunded your payment for the op amps in full.

I truly value your patience and understanding in this matter. Should you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Double plus win win. :)

Thank you very much.

I am very happy with your product and I do want to purchase from you again in a few months if you are fine with that.

Like I told you this amplifier is night and day difference for the better to my Bryston 4b SST everything ran at 4 ohm. I only eq for a touch more treble and with your amplifier I have almost dropped off all eq'ing. Just the tiniest bump.

With finalizing this transaction I would proudly recommend your amplifier.

Thank you Apollon Audio.

Double plus win win. :)
I agree about the Op Amps that they will probably not make a difference after reading things on this forum. I mainly chose these because of a graph Apollon put up on one of their reviews here.

Most likely inaudible. These new Class D amps in home audio are new to me and the only way to learn about something is from hands on experience.

I'm a big car audio guy and I'm 44 years old so I have been part of the class D revolution since it's main stream popularity started in the mid 90s with sub amps and later full range.

This is my hobby. I look forward to learning more.

May I suggest that you edit your 1st post of this thread to include the updated info? Some readers in the future might just look at the 1st post, react and post their opinions before reading the good news.

Glad to see that you are happy with your amp.

Still the fragile shipping box is an issue, right?!

I am more aggravated with UPS more than anything. I had this shipped straight to them because I would be at work.

UPS didn't even care and luckily everything was fine inside. I was very worried about one set of speaker terminals being broken but got lucky.

I will kindly ask that Apollon double box my next amp.

I too had some unexpected issues with apollon.

I ordered their Dual mono Purifi 9040 (PET1200). That thing is large and heavy. My shipping box was also flimsy. Side of the case arrived with a ding in it. Box was also damaged so perhaps it happened in transit.

But upon replacing my two March P701 monoblocks (same cables same trinnov channels), the apollon would shut down (mistaken protect mode??) and require unplugging and restarting to allow me to even hear pink noise or to calibrate with the trinnov. The next morning after working all night to calibrate the trinnov, the apollon once again would not work. I struggled mightily but could not get it to work unless it was unplugged each time.

Upon contacting apollon support I told them I had lost confidence in their amp and wanted to take advantage of their 14 day return window. But, oh my gosh, they claimed their higher end amps like the PET1200 are considered “custom orders” and therefore do not qualify for return. I was pointed to some fine print stating that but whenever I see their amps advertised they always include the 14 day return window as a sales incentive. This is their top of the line amp—sigh, I still consider that a dodgy business practice.

So I had to return it back to Slovenia to apollon who on their chat line indicated they would diagnose and repair it same day and send it back. Well that time line stretched to two weeks+ as they could not find why it was doing what it was doing. (I believe they may have thought the issue was my error and probably still do). Tibor finally got involved and said they basically replaced everything inside the amp, replaced the dinged side, and sent it back.

Once the apollon PET1200 was back, I simply again replaced the two March P701 monoblocks but this time the apollon worked fine as I would have wanted in the first place. And yes the flimsy shipping box again was damaged but the amp was not.

It is a wonderfully crafted sturdy case and the unit itself sounds wonderful.

But I will buy from March, Buckeye or Nord next time. It just wore me out. And customs on both ends was incredibly slow and needed my persistent questions or intervention each time.

Also, I did read on the Buckeye AVS forum that he had a software protect bug on another of his purifi modules. So maybe it was a similar issue.

I'm sorry to hear that.

We had a meeting today at work and one of the topics was how at the end of the day we are in customer service ( I work on major commercial construction projects) and the saying today was
" it takes years to build a relationship and ONE day to ruin it"
and that is why we have to be better than everyone else.

I live around Columbus Ohio I will probably be buying local next time

I ordered a March P801 at the same time to handle my center channel. It was cheaper per monoblock, arrived 12 days after ordering from Australia and Australia is a free trade partner with the US so no customs delay. March and apollon were the only ones offering purifi 9040s at the time. Now Buckeye and Nord also offer them.
