Anyone know how to generate a 12V trigger where none is provided?

Ouch! Not exactly glowing reviews for that one. Did you experience any "buzzing" noise from yours?

I am pretty sure many of the poor reviews are due to people buying it without checking that their gear meets the wattage requirements - exactly what I have done! However the tests I've done haven't caused any noise whatsoever. Although I'll be returning mine to Amazon, it's only because my amp needs more than the 1 watt in standby and therefore won't trigger Off.

I have written to Energenie suggesting they modify the wattages requirements to something like less than 10 watts to turn Off and 15+ watts to turn On. My amp (and most preamps, etc) needs more than 15 watts when on, so it would satisfy most audio users.

I've also suggested they consider a block that has a built-in Trigger In so that it can be linked with a Trigger Out from an amp or preamp, and this would turn off 4 outlet sockets. Possibly a re-worked block based on this existing one, with the Trigger In socket replacing the undesirable switch.

Came across this thread while researching for something that can turn on a Accuphase amplifier when rest of the audio chain is on. Accuphase does not have any trigger in (or out). is there a way that I can have this amp turned on simply using power strip (it goes in standby when supplied power, I have to manually press the power button to actually turn it on).

If you already have to turn on a power strip, then any 12V power supply does the job. An old router's wall-wart for example. I also have USB to +12V adapters meant for powering fans.

If you don't want to do any wiring yourself, there's wall warts with 3.5mm connectors

This behavior of the Accuphase power switch probably supports soft-start, to mitigate inrush current at power up.

One option, but the cure may be worse than the disease: Attach a Zigbee/Zwave robotic button pusher to the front panel of the Accuphase in conjunction with a smart outlet. Power up the outlet, pause 1000 mS, then actuate the button pusher. This requires Home Assistant or equivalent home automation engine.
