Anyone heard of Advance Paris?

I have a different explanation. He tried to vanish in style using an inappropriate idiom in a conceited attempt to make forget the vacuity of his discourse. All of that to avoid answering a question you apparently think I thought knowing his answer to. Which is, by the way?
like I said

I bought an A12 Classic in February 2025. I love the way it sounds in my music room with the rest of the equipment I have.

As Albert Einstein said: "Not Everything That Can Be Measured Counts, and Not Everything That Counts Can Be Measured!"

The room, your seating location, the speakers, and your ears, decide how something sounds. Add to this the phono cartridge and the cables used, and it will sound different. Everything colors the sound we here.

If you like the color; it's good! Someone else might not like that color. But, whom are you trying to please?

Find a dealer, and have a listen.

@PaulieT,

Indeed, it's true... The A12 Classic is a really incredible unit, really placing the instruments where they belong on the Sound Stage.

But I have to say it definitely is really neutral rather than colored in sound, particularly compared to vintage Amps. Some newer Amps that are light on the Bass might make it sound colored or maybe the natural warmth of the tubes, but it's definitely neutral.

The tubes also took a couple of days to get broken-in to their full potential, it really began to open up the finesse of the sound.

He never said that… and what if he did?

Tbf, maybe his first wife said it ;)

After all, she surpassed him in mathematics exams and was clearly his intellectual equal on many levels. It's just that we still live in a male dominated world, and often women don't get the recognition they deserve :(

Unless he was married to William Bruce Cameron, no… ;)

Because the reliability of their amps is notoriously bad.

I know and talk with many retailers in EU and they all report very high rate of returns with that brand. The QC really is not great.
been there twice (pre-amp and amp, don't really recall the model numbers) while they were still known as Adv.Acoustic and can atest to the notoriously bad part, not just about the products but support in general, too (both dealers and the manufacturer)
not going back, thank you

Yeah, but so is the same story with almost all the other companies too, including McIntosh these days. The best it gets may be with Mark Levinson and Accuphase. Mark Levinson support repairs on all of their models going back, last I knew, McIntosh does not. I've never known one person who did not have "issues" with McIntosh units, they have high failure rates and at a high price point that they charge it's unacceptable.

Problem is because of how big the brand name and following is, a lot of that "news" gets swept under the carpet. I have nothing against them personally and think their older units were great but it's out of my price range.

The Vintage McIntosh Amps, like 70's were built much better on the insides in particular. Today they are just a name.

But even their Customer Service is not what it used to be.

The Advance Acoustics did have problems, their new products now under AP is a much higher grade of components used with very few reports of reliability problems or failure.

Pricing is much much more within affordability for me and others who might be after the same niche.

Interesting that you mention this. I've always been surprised, and disappointed by how poorly Mac hardware ages -- compared to equipment of similar age from lesser ;) manufacturers. Totally anecdotal, of course, but my impression of their hardware is that it's not as robust as its "when new" price might make one expect. Not as bad as NAD, but that's not saying much! ;)

In particular, they seemed to cheap out on some pretty important things (e.g., in the 1960s and 70s) such as volume control pots and switches.
