Anyone Buy the New Schiit Mimir Yet?

I'll be looking forward to trying this thing out. I've been looking for a nice low budget DAC and I like the idea of PEQ.

This would be great in the living room where I'm not so critical. 2 channel setup that has no built-in DAC or tone controls at all.

It would really be nice if it had a signal suming option so I could use it and it's PEQ for my subwoofer amp instead of using just my preamp left channel and a 31 band graphic EQ to get a little extra bump at 50 hrtz

I love my Bitfrost 2 original. It softens the highs perfectly whether I'm getting around the built in DAC on my preamp (Rotel) or now with my Class D amp (Hypex) that becomes harsh or fatiguing at loud levels.

just wanted to say, I always see your name come up when I try searching posts by amirm. Always makes me wonder when we're going to get amirb through to amirl
My guess is when a $10k Devialet amp beats a $100 Topping amp

Why would one buy this Schiit piece...new to dacs or something?

I think it's probably intended as an upgrade path for those who have bought the lower price point Schiit DACs and are curious about the custom digital filter options of their more expensive DACs.

The only interesting thing about Mimir is the proprietary “Mesh” reconstruction filter.
The interesting thing about Mimir is how the new functions were implemented and how it will affect the Schiit product line. Schiit created their own USB interface (called Unison USB) that doesn't use off-the-shelf USB interface chips. Unison USB has a powerful microprocessor, and in the Mimir they utilized it for DSP processing, such as the Mesh filter, digital volume control and parametric equalizer. It is how they added preamp and EQ capability to the Mimir. Schiit is updating the Unison USB on their current DACs (starting with Gungnir and Yggdrasil), which will give them preamp and DSP capability as well. We should expect it to be in all Schiit DACs in the future.

I do a lot of low volume listening at night, and a feature in Mimir that particularly interests me is that it has a loudness control like in old style receivers (low and high frequencies boosted when playing at low volume). It follows the Fletcher-Munson curve and the amount of loudness compensation is controlled by the volume setting. There is a scaling control to match the level with your system.

It's a DAC/Amp combo
It's a DAC/pre-amp combo

My Devialet Expert 400 is for sale if you want to try.

I'll sell for less than $10k.
Lol, same... about 3,7k in euros... but its a 220 Pro (sold half of it already). Gotta say, it still just sounds good. No issues there. The looks are pretty good. And I have no issue with the measurements. The only Issue I got is that I prefer separate items, like we used to have. DACs are the ones that change most, (while, actually the interfaces we seem to exchange too fast). Other than that, no complaints really. Oh, and it's a little too deep for a standard Ikea cupboard. :D
