Well this was unexpected.
I did the last cable in the main “circuit” runs today. All thats left is an interconnect between the pioneer cassette player and the rca switch. Has nothing to do with anything unless I’m playing a cassette.
The last canle was a patch cord from the graphic eq (everything runs through it) and to the rca switch for the cassette side of things. The run from the cassette switch to the main switch was already done.
I’ve always had a touch of left to right channel imbalance. Just a hair. I do know when I did the dc offsets in “Big Suey” the left channel was a bit touchier to adjust than the right, so I’ve always just accounted the imbalance to not being able to match the channels as precisely as I wanted to.
The patch rca’s from eq to switch were two different cables, although they both metered “serviceable”.
But, after installing the new “matched” interconnect cables, the imbalance is gone. If anything, the left shows a little better than right on both the et70 vu meters and Big Suey’s wpc meters. However imperfect they may be at showing what the absolute power and vu readings are, the trend of left lower than right is established.
So it seems that once again, although cables can’t add anything to the system, they sure can “take away”.
Or maybe I’m just seeing things again…
