Any Quadral listeners here?

Hi People,

New here, but quite enjoying the forum. Been browsing a bit around, bought a Topping E30 as a result which im very happy with.
I've noticed not alot of people here heard about or seen Quadral speakers. It never seemed Quadral has a huge following anywhere on the internet (maybe I am missing german forums :)?)

But the past 6-7 years i've owned numerous Quadral speakers and in my opinion they are the speakers I have ever heard in way of soundstage and bass reproduction.
I always had B&W, Magnats and T+A speakers. But after a while I bought some Quadral Shogun Phonologue Gold because they looked cool but man; after listening I was immediatly sold to the sound (could say tunnelvision). The treble which never sounds harsh in my opinion due too the ribbon tweeters (?) and the ginormous soundstage coming from two 6 inch drivers. Albeit the mid's were not the best I heard.

Couple months back I aquired a major step up; A pair of Quadral Vulkan MK4's in pristine condition. Based on """Transmission line""""" design. I must say it took a month and 6 people to carry these up the stairs (85kg each) :p

Quadral Vulkan MK4's

I've been listening to these for a while and they are by far the best speakers i've ever heard, though the tweeters are one step older design than the Shogun's and have a less pleasant sound in my opinion. But a subwoofer is definetly not needed anymore, they are very bass heavy which is maybe not a pro but a subwoofer is absolutely not needed in any case, they sound like I already have a very large invisible subwoofer. Especially when using one of the tracks I found here (Paula Cole - Tiger).

Well that's my rant, any other Quadral enthousiasts here?

Reporting in, with the Quadral Platinum +Two and Hypex ncore 400/smsl su9 setup. I'm in love. Seems like Corona is easily the best time to justify, upgrading your audio gear.

So, here I am
Recently I bought a pair of Quadral Shogun Phonologue Gold and I'm really impressed by the sound. With Kenwood ka-7020 they are astonishing. Beautiful, rich sound

Welcome to the club, absolutely fantastic speakers!!
I keep mine safely stored in the closet :p

Recently, while sitting in a special silence room, I thought to myself that you could do something good for humanity, if you have, of course, the time and willingness.
Namely, I came up with the idea of combining both pairs of speakers and recording a short video to show the differences between them.
Of course, as long as you have the time and willingness, what do you think? Best regards :)

Yes, another Quadral listener here.

Started with the Shogun MK VI a few years back and now have the Amun MK VI on my main system. Also we use a set of Rondo’s MK VI in a hobby room. The way the highs are reproduced by the ribbons really gives me goosebumps. Also bass is a step up from Shogun to Amun.
The speakers are old, so sometimes they need a little extra care compared to newer loudspeakers, butt hey, we all need a hobby.

My amp recently died, a Denon pma-1500r. So next step is to find a good successor.

Anyway, I am hooked to the sound, that’s for sure.

Hi sorry for the late reply. This is currently impossible. The vulkans weigh 90 kilo's each, it took 3 builders and 30 mins per speaker to get them upstairs. There is no way im moving them.

Thats really nice man!! I had some rondo's too which I salvaged because one of the woofers on my shoguns was broken (some rondos share the same woofers and are alot cheaper than shoguns).

I have a pair of Quadral Montan MKV's it's the only 3-way transmissionline speaker that was built after the bigger Vulkans and Titans with a smaller 8 inch woofer which is alot more suitable for the avarage medium sized rooms that it's bigger brother the Vulkan or even the bigger Titan.

But no less a tremendousand enormous soundstage and frequency span of 23hz up to 80Khz!
The bass goes as deep as the Vulkans in my opinion, but it's alot more subtle and less present probably because i heard the Vulkans in slightly too small rooms.

Yeah I can confirm that my vulkans are way too bass heavy for my bedroom lol. But yeah was more of a future investment. I really want to hear those Montans tho :) nice stuff.

When it comes to the sound characteristics and soundstage they are not very different than the vulkan.. just a bit less present in the bass and less force.
They are just much better suitable in a room of 25m2 having them at least 75cm from the walls and having the speakers 2,5 / 3 meters apart and sitting 3 meters away from them to get the best out of them.
Because when the bass no longer sounds bloated or cramped in the room is when the speakers completely open up and set up a HUGE soundstage.
And if you liked the shoguns for their tweeters you will certainly like the Montan MKV aswell because they have the same XX-1000 tweeter equipped.

I own a Quadral Aurum 2. It was built around year 2000. Excellent speaker with high quality built and great bass. There are only 2 reviews available. One in the German magazine Stereoplay (group test winner for stand mount speakers at 2,000 Marks). Another review in Audio ( German magazine in 10/2000). I don't have that review.

I had Quadral Aurum Montan VIII speakers on home demo a few years ago. Nice speakers, good sound, but not quite up to the speakers I was already using (Avantgarde Unos) despite a surprisingly similar type of sound - so I didn't buy them. Since then, I bought new Martin Logan Expression 13As (not at all good in my room so quickly re-sold), then used (2006) Avantgarde Duos, and recently Avantgarde Duo XDs. I hope I never get the urge to change these wonderful beasts!

I'd love a pair of Avantgarde Duo XD :D

I was wondering if Quadral is a thing outside Germany. Maybe they should send a few speakers to Steve Guttenberg (200.000 subscribers on YT) et al to get the word out. Plot twist: I never tried Quadral speakers myself.

Back in 1987 I bought a brand new pair of Quadral Titans Mk III and kept them for 22 years. They were monsters capable of shaking house's walls down to 16Hz. Before selling them to a guy who drove a 1500km trip from Germany to take delivery, they were configured for tri-amplified operation. Really impressive, lifelike sound, both delicate and thundering when music was properly recorded. I sold them because moving those 150Kgs babies around took two very strong persons. Made these picturee the day they went to their new home.

What a shame. Hope they went to a good home :)
