Any motorcyclists on this forum?

In my 75 years the only time I spend riding it the dirt was accidentally, too many trees and other obstacles for me. ;)

I'm 54 and was a road (bike) guy until moving here 10 ish years ago. I joined an ADV motorcycle forum at the request of a customer of mine and started playing in some "tag" games (picture tag). I was all Harley at that time and being an ADV forum most tags were not Harley tags. I went for one sort of close and it was miles and miles of dirt and gravel to get to it. Those miles and miles were "hidden" right outside my door :-) I bought a dual sport, then got into mountain single track riding, then the wife wanted to see so an ADV bike for 2 up dirt riding. Learning (hard) single track at 50 was painful to say the least but only one trip to the actual emergency room so far. You only live once!

Wow... Two up off road.
Scary.

Good on ya's!
(Reckon me old bones are a tad too brittle for such things these days!)

Edit : Interested to see how Ducatis off road bikes size up to the Japanese competition, plus KTM. Being a Triumph owner, will also be following their recent venture into the MX world too. Reckon it's a tough market for them both.

First time I went off-road riding was on this, I tried to avoid it ever after.
True story. LOL

I even take some group rides down some fun roads from time to time. They usually love it!

That's ^^^ an awfully blurry pic of some stream crossing action.

Otoh in the dirt no cagers to watch out for.
But I hear the stories about those dang trees and animules jumping out in front of ya.

I haven't hit a tree on a moto, nor on my mountain bikes. Getting a heavy bike over a fallen tree can be a pain, tho. I have had some close encounters with bears on the mountain bikes. On a regular moto probably animals heard you coming a long ways off and cleared out. I can sneak up on some bear, elk and deer now and then on the emoto, tho.

They always did on my 1949 Panhead HD with straight pipes. :p

Trees are fun, give it a wee slope and I could climb on them with the little YZ80 (my very own first bike) :p

(haven't tried it with 490 though, I was old enough to know fear by then :) )

Our bear sometimes are cantankerous, uncomfortable standoffs and that type of behavior. Cubs, that’s when you haul ass period. I see a lot of elk which is cool, I’ll come around a bend on some single track and a herd is taking up the entire hillside.

A friend of mine owns a suspension company, he and his wife both raced Ducatis and were instructors. He loves them and that's the extent of my experience. I like dirt more, a friend of both of ours got the Desert X for a dual sport and man is it nice. He hopped it up and it is a complete beast. My most recent addition is a 2023 KTM 890 Adventure, KTM went bankrupt right after I bought it. Bad years certainly happen :-)
Is KTM finished or did they survive after bankruptcy?

They survived as Bajaj, who was the 50% cash cow prior to November. Seems massive cost cutting and reorganization is currently happening behind the rosy marketing. I’d imagine the name will survive hopefully the products aren’t just “branded Bluetooth speakers” so to speak, we shall see.
