Any motorcyclists on this forum?

You could ride it to Sturgis next year, if they don't "cancel" it.

Yea lots of changes going on.
I live in a world and country I no longer recognize, it's all so very sad.

I am a big fan of both three cylinder engines and Rotax.

Got a Triumph Street Triple R and love both the power delivery and the noise, particularly on the over-run.

Also have a BMW F800ST for touring. The motor was designed by Rotax. It's a 798cc parallel twin. It actually fires like a single (both pistons at TDC simultaneously), and has a third/fake "piston" to balance the engine. Like most Rotax engines, it is dry-sump and super reliable. It also has great midrange power and thanks to the belt final drive and awesome fuel economy, is my perfect touring bike.

Used to have a KTM Superduke, which had a big V-twin, also by Rotax. I believe KTM and Rotax still have close links.

Both very innovative companies imho.
Top gear and motors out of Austria for sure!

They don't have the heart throbbing soul of a Harley or Ducati V-Twin but way better than a inline 4. ;)
It finally quit raining here long enough to snap a couple photos with it dried off. :(

Looks great Sal.

Reckon a triple has the best of both worlds in some ways : midrange torque like a twin, and willingness to rev like a four.

Enjoy!

The single best thing about the engines in the newer Can Am's - IMO - are hydraulic valve lifters. So many modern motorcycles have excessive maintenance costs..

I am guessing that @Sal1950 did not want to wait until the electric version was released.... so that he could say "over my dead body!"
Echos of MQA!?!;)

The problem with electric vehicles - is lack of range and quick charges. An electric motorcycle would be great - all that torque on tap! When they get to 300 miles true range, 10 minute charging available everywhere, and no cost penalty versus gas engines. Count me in! Until then only good for local commuting.

This is about the best electric motorcycle available today. https://zeromotorcycles.com/model/zero-dsrx
179 miles range city and 107 miles highway, 169 foot-pounds of torque and 100 HP. However, short range and minimum 1.1 hour charge time for $23K. Better value than a $23K amplifier amp, but not ready for prime time.

The day they'll put out a dead-dry two-stroke-like with 50-60 horsepower, and 30-40 lbs/ft of torque on/off road I'll buy it instantly.
But I don't see that coming :(

Maybe if they can make it act like a 2 stroke & smell like a 2 stroke, I'll consider it.
I think that the AMA was the primary cause of the 2 stroke ban (in collusion with government agencies lies).
Thank God, they are starting to make a bit of a comeback.

As for the charging time, Maeving has an interesting solution of removable batteries:

Just need a network of ready-to-swap batteries… At each convenience store & bar?

Let us NOT get all -off and get our 'rhoids all flared-up before you know who does you know what to this thread for going political!

It is just crazy that many bikes and others are still using mechanical lifters or whatever you want to call the OHC systems.
The thought of having to mess with buckets and shims on my Ducati with the Desmodromic valves was one of the main reasons I sold it for my Buell, and I was a bike mechanic Maintenance free, dead quiet, and you get 100% of the cam/valve lift for max performance at all times.
Duc's Desmo valves are kool BUT,
I've heard rumors of changes afoot and the ole school customer base is going nuts.
Duc's without Desmo's and Harley's with electric toy motors, what's the world coming too.

You lost me bud, what do you mean by dead-dry ?

Like this:

This instant response.

I guess I must be dense, what mechanical or other properties lend to the "dead-dry"?
What's dry?
It's probably a translation thing, what I mean is that instant kick (and I mean kick, worst than a mule, first couple of gears are really dangerous) you get,the response without any hint of lag.
You can up mountains with that (too old though, now only dirt and closed courses) .

Edit:Have a look
