Not sure if this is a software bug or a brain bug that is limitiing me but i am stuck.
I wanted to have dirac filters for both my stereo (2.2) and a 7.2 for my video. This would require i run dirac 2x. The Marantz has 3 open slots that you can save the Dirac results to.
I initially ran dirac for 2.2 and saved the project file in dirac. The Dirac created filter set was saved in the Marantz under filter 1 of the 3 options that are available. From there i went into each of my inputs that were 2.2 and assigned filter 1 to them. I tested each one and it worked as expected. I encountered no problems or issues when running dirac or assigning the newly created filter set to the appropriate componnents
I then moved on to the 7.2 Dirac testing. Upon completion of Dirac i saved the filter set in the Marantz under filter 2 of the 3 options that were available. At that time, all slots were open. I thought that weird since i had already used slot 1 i would have expected only slots 2 and 3 open. Slot 1 should be full with the set saved when doing my 2.2 testing. I Saved the dirac project file, then closed it down and went back to the Marantz and assigned all the 7.2 systems with the filters saved in slot 2. Tested each of the 7.2 inputs and they worked as expected

Going back to the 2.2 system, i logged into the Marantz and saw the slot 1 assignment was no longer there and the only option was the filters in slot 2 (7.2)

It seems that any existing filters get deleted when running a new Dirac session. The sort of good news is i can easily open dirac back to the 2.2 session, and save the filters back to slot one .... but it kills what was in slot 2.

Has anyone experienced this? If not, from my description anyone have an idea of what might be going on?
TIA for any help or info
For the expected question .... I know for a fact i did not save the second diract project filter into slot one by mistake.

I'm pretty sure that once you changed your speaker setup, it just invalidated any other (stored) filters, which makes sense to me.

Btw, since Dirac measures each speaker separately, you can simply use the 7.2 measurements and direct the Marantz to play in stereo only (2.2).

Mad
Thanks for the response. If i read your reponse correctly, i could leave the 7.2 measurement and assign it to any source and require no change on the marantz to listen to 2, 4, 5 or 7 channel (whether they be .1 or .2). The marantz will auto play them?
Thanks

You *may* need to adjust the 'sound mode' of the Marantz for when you play 2 channel music - so it doesn't try to play it through all channels. I no longer have my AV10 so I can't easily verify, but many AVRs process media such that it utilizes all channels. My current AVR certainly does this and I just change the mode so that it plays 2 channel (but still uses Dirac and the subs).

Just checking the AV10 manual (https://manuals.marantz.com/AV10/NA/EN/DRDZSYyrtgycpw.php) and you either want 'auto' or 'stereo' mode. Let me know how it goes.

I called marantz who were great listners but provided nothing other than blaming dirac. Dirac, otoh, is pointing at marantz.
I bit the bullet and did a factory reset on the marantz and reset everything back up. Still the same problem so i redid the dirac testing and added the new filters. That fixed the problem. And, as you were so helpful in pointing out, i only really need one set of filters for my use case. It works for both multichannel and 2 channel.
All is well ... for now. Thanks for the replies, much appreciated

May be if you combine this with switching speaker profile?
So store 2.2 in profile1 and 7.2 in profile2 and make sure you are in the right speaker profile before you store their own dirac slots.

yah, that is how i originally started and that did not work
What i found was after having "assigned" an input/source either profile 1 or 2, once i switched from a source of one profile to a source of the other profile the profile did not switch automatically. instead it would stay the same as the prior source and if i was required to manually change it via web interface.

this sounds like the classic argument in manufacturing "its a software problem....no it isn't its a hardware problem" And then the two factions volley back and forth refusing to attack the problem together and find a solution so the factory can start producing again. I thank GE Mobile Radio division for providing this scenario for my education way back when. It was a memorable event repeated many times in my 20 years there.
