Hi,

I know Amir has tested the T5V and T8V both with positive outcomes. Does anyone have any insight if the T7V follows suit? The t8V is too big for my stands and, additionally, due to my setup, the tweeters would be above slightly above my ear level which isn't advised according to the review. The 5 would be fine but I wouldn't mind a bit more oomph and the cost difference between the 5 and 7 isn't that significant.

Sound & Recording reviewed them (Link).

Yes, looking forward to seeing those results.
Here's a sneak peek:

Looks good, other than one nasty port resonance at 700Hz.

Hmm, nasty is right! It has a pretty serious dip in output there, apparently... seems like kind of a showstopper to me.

The one thing that would concern me about the T7V is the level of hiss, which even is a hair higher than for the T5V, and decidedly mediocre for either (30 / 29.7 dB(A) @ 10 cm). If tweeter height is that critical, odds are you're sitting pretty close, so this could get annoying.

Neither of my T8V have any hiss. The tweeter is very wide and horizontal, no problem with dispersion.

I haven't heard T7V so can't make a fair comparison, but T8V is a better 'package' then T5V and worth the extra. It also has a little more overhead in the amp then T5/7V, which you'll appreciate if you want medium volume without distortion.

I think it could be fixable with a tiny bit of eq. It will be interesting to see what @amirm says about it.
This is one of those artifacts that cannot be fixed by EQ.

It's a physical flaw in the speaker's construction, and can only be truly fixed by modifying the construction.

@amirm EQed the A4V, and the Dip was much more severe at 10db, the A7V is like 3db.

and the impact of said EQ adjustment:
audibility impact is very small (or imagined)

S&R's measurements show the dip is just as big on the A7V.

If the resonance tends to create positive gain in on axis response data, I rend to find that it is pretty effective to tame it with EQ. If it's causing negative gain like the dip in the adam speakers, there's not much you can do.

I made these https://www.mtg-designs.com/diy-speaker-plans/vbs-10-2

They have a surround resonance which is documented on the page. The designer states it's not a problem but unfortunately I can hear it quite clearly, especially if I play guitar through the speakers, any notes there just ring out. Kind of a bummer.

Not really, they measured ~5 dB and while it looks scary for a newbie, on real listening such sharp dips are (almost) undetectable while shallow (1-3 dB) but broad droop or "balance tilt" which my T5Vs have with no EQ (HF prevail by at least 3 dB) can and will change or even ruin tonal balance. So, in case of A7Vs I'm more worried about very slight midrange shelf lift and 600 Hz peak just before that dip.
If delivery will not fail, I will check how bad A7Vs are by myself in a next few days:)

Well, I got my white A7Vs today. Set them up, turned on and almost cried. There was a reason!
Imagine T5Vs PEQd to perfection.
Then imagine a pillow, not huge but reasonably thick.
Then imagine a secret ingredient, let's call it naturallness or analogueness.
Imagine tons of subtle details and rich timbres.
And then realize you somehow removed that pillow T5Vs played through all the time, and all the good stuff mentioned later being delivered to you.

That's how A7Vs do sound.

Good luck to those who will try to find that on FR graphs :p

One would mention the price and yes, T5Vs are unbeatable for 150 eur. I love them.
But audio worls is cruel and you have to play 4 times more to get "almost the same" but natural and organic.
Beck never sounded remotely as good

P.S. PURE voicing for now but UNR is definitely fun.
