Any ideas for hidden room treatment?

Room treatment can also easily be at least as much, especially if you want to hide it in a nice way.

It’s a trade off that one has to make. For sure, room treatment can’t do everything ART does, and the same goes for the other way around.
And I personally think it is worth the cost, but there are those here on tight budgets or who are simply cheap and don't realize that after spending a pile on a new piece of hardware, there is also a significant cost for the Dirac licenses.

These guys have some nice decorative absorbers.

ART will do most things right in up to 150hz range that was always a challenge for passive room treatment. Couple of things left to sort out is sub 20hz support and better time alignment after ART as it seems that subs are firing a tad earlier than the mains after ART hands it over to Dirac Live.

Above that range, as noted, it will just be Dirac Live guessing its best what to correct or not. Some members might be more persistent and/or knowledgeable to understand what to correct or not above that range, but passive treatment will always be a great help to reduce these problems.

IMO there is no way that one could get a better upgrade for bass than ART at that cost. That would need to be elaborate REW+MSO setup combined with double bass array or something of that kind, and some long hours of tweaking. ART will not require such resources and will be 90% set out of the box. Literally like 30 min setup.

I appreciate these aren’t “hidden” as such but they did get the go ahead from my long suffering ..

Curtains on top of the panels treatment, fine carpet.
Ceiling is really tough question though..

Speaking of DIRAC ART, doesn't it requires 4 subs placed around the room to work?

With my wife's allergies 54 of the 54 things that she tested for, she is allergic to): any amount and type of carpet is a no-go. But the other ideas would work.

I used a site that had several different calculators for different kind of absorbers.
The site is now defuncted, owner died but there are some things to be found via google cache.
Will see what i can find later today.

Anyhow, walls and ceiling in my room acts as wide band panel absorbers.
They are made by wooden panels so you cant see them.

I only have an OLD pic of the room, while i was moving things around while building.
But looking on the ceiling and walls you get the idea on how it looks

No. You can have no subs and use ART.

We do have 4 subs, but they are in roughly in the 4 corners of the front wall. No acoustic treatments beyond normal furnishings. We use good speakers so more is unnecessary.

Yes it does work without subs.

But the more low frequency speakers you have the better result.
So i would not say that you will get a Great result with only two speakers.

When I first played with ART 2 or 3 years ago, it was computer only (which sucks, even if it’s a Mac) and thus I stuck it in our old guest room, which at the time had a 2.2 channel setup with NHT C3 standmounts and Triad Bronze subs immediately outside the speakers and against the wall. It worked very well, even though control and use was a PITA because computer rather than special purpose audio hardware.

Thank you for all contributions so far. Some of your efforts are truly impresive.
