I listen to only two channel music. My following components are listed below
Pioneer elite sc99 (it has a built in DAC but I have never leared how to use it) receiver also has two SUB outs
Pioneer elite BDP 09FD CD player
Pioneer elite SW10 powered sub
2 Caimbridge Azur 851W (one for each speaker)
B&W 802 series 2

My basic questions are these:
I think I want a streamer because I want to have unlimited song inventory. I also have Alexa through out my house. If a buy the WIIM ultra can I hook it up directly to my SC99
and do I need to run the WIIM through the SC99's DAC? I understand the WIIM already has a DAC so I'm a little confused in that regard. Lastly since I have voice activated Alexa and it is compatible with the WIIM ultra does that mean I can talk directly into my WIIM Ultra and it will play my selection out of my stereo speakers?
Sorry but Im old school and never kept up with the new tech but an unlimited library , voice controlled, wireless connection has me licking my lips.
Thanks in advance

You have the choice of using either the WiiM DAC or the SC99 DAC. You can try both and decide if you like one over the other. For that matter, you can connect the two devices both ways and select at whim. To use the DAC inside the AVR, you will need an HDMI cable or a TOSLINK digital cable.

You can talk to any of your Alexa devices or to the WiiM Voice Remote. Here are examples of the commands it understands:

If I use the DAC inside the AVR what does the other end of the HDMI or TOSLINK get pluged into, a second DAK? sorry for my ignorance

Welcome to ASR. Lots of old schoolers here... me too. I'm sure that you'll have this straightened out with a little guidance. Tidal and Qobuz are well liked streaming services here... Spotify... not so much. You can search for threads to help you with that too. Enjoy.

Connect coax out or toslink out( little box right of trigger) to the pioneer. HDMI ARC is only input not output.

Edit: Here’s the WiiM Manual

But if I run my SC99 DAC then no wrining is needed. The ARV is all self contained to operate as a streamer however it is blue tooth only whereas the WIIM is WIFI. I see me giong with the WIIM for better connectivity. Pluse I like seeing my music posted onto the WIIM LED. Im starting to see some clarity.
Thank you for your help

The digital cables go from the rear panel of the WiiM to the rear panel of the Pioneer. You can use either a coaxial or optical digital cable. The WiiM ships with an optical cable in the box.

Here is where they plug into the SC99:

Thank you. My concern was always the function of a streamer and its benefits when used with my paticular system. I realize I may not have convayed that well and for that my apologies. While I was reaching for answers I feel you have helped me answer my concerns. I am confident now to buy the WIIM Ultra and that alone with my other components will serve me well. I bought the Cambridge 851N years ago when I bought the amps and truly not knowing its entire function learned it was not applicable with my needs so I returned it. Honestly I still cant understand how a streamer can make music sound better. While I've tried to learn about about bits, ditter and clocks I cant force myself to comprehend it. Now days Wifi availabibily lean me twords the WIIM Ultra for convience only.
I greatly appreciate your responces
Marcus
