i picked up an audio technica oc9ml/ii off of ebay from virausallc a couple weeks ago. it was advertised as having only 50 hours on it. i figured at worst the seller was under stating the hours. little did i think id get what i got. turns out, hes selling retipped carts. rather than the boron cantilever and microridge diamond, i got a tube and an elliptical.

i probably should have been more careful before i popped the buy it now on my phone. when i went back and looked at the pics on my computer, i started doing some research. turns out, he used to sell on audiogon and had a ton of negative feedback. oops.
heres the pic of the cantilever that was in the ad

he accepted the return but never refunded the money and i had to open a case to get it back. sure am glad i picked up a microscope!

I’ve seen a few eBay sellers do stuff like that, and most of the buyers are none the wiser. When I used to buy a number of “NOS” styli off eBay, around 20% were worn when inspected with a microscope.

Sorry to hear that. I got lucky with vira once, second time I got burned. Hope you got your money back, eventually.
