I'm crazy / stupid enough that I've paid close to that for 15 IPS tapes, or collectible LPs, but I balk at that price for reissue....

Yeah... I'm much more inclined to buy a collectible for that kind of $$. I don't buy very many new records at all. It doesn't have a cool factor to it yet... Exclusive/high price doesn't mean it's a cool enough record to spend $500 on.

I was just gonna say something along the lines of "look at the price of currently produced tapes" -- or many "collectible" vintage prerecorded tapes...some of the latter of which are of pretty questionable (sonic) quality. ;)
