Andrew Jones’s new speaker brand - Jones and Cerreta

Andrew is not a fan of measurements.

Judging from various interviews and presentations, I would assume he is a fan of extensive measurements. But rather early on, in the design process of drivers, for example. He has just claimed he would not let measurements have the final say, in case things don´t sound right (think he mentioned that in some public interview at a trade show, was it with JA?)..

I don’t believe they have done much development into it as they didn’t know if it was a coaxial compression driver yet or if it was a standard driver.

Did you talk to AJ? Would be surprised if he used a compression driver. He usually relies on bigger dome tweeters in coaxials meant for higher SPL reserves (R1, V10).

Stronger magnetic field, more uniform magnetic field, adjustable magnetic field (combinded with computer control of the power supply could be very interesting, not sure if anyone is doing anything like that).
Doing motion control via field modulation sounds like a novel way to reduce motor-based distortion. I wonder if any of this stuff is being done here or if it's just the usual high end audio novelty stuff.

Million is a not that much nowadays. And common and sane low digit millionaires will not buy $50K speakers. Try cutting it by 100$ or more and the number will drop significantly. As that is what wealth distribution is nowadays.
I know is not much, a family home (in a nice place) alone, costs half that much.
But the number is about the investable assets, not real estate.

And not all of them buy $50k speakers. Even a fraction will do though, depending the interest.
HC people pay that much for chairs and carpets, alone.

Cost of gear must be always added through time, that's the way to control it.
You can buy some $5k disposable stuff a year, or you can buy some $50k and keep it for 10 years (and still have some worth to resale) .

There's room for all.

Not sure who I spoke to, but it’s definitely a compression driver.

A dome would make no sense in terms of integration with 3x 15” woofers in a (assumed) two way design. You’d be throwing away a ton of LF/LMF headroom due to limiting on the tweeter at the (low) appropriate crossover point.

However, there are plenty of single diaphragm compression drivers that can easily play down to <500hz, which makes them a suitable driver for a 2-way box, and all of tue commercial coaxial CDs (B&C DCX, BMS, etc) can handle low crossover points on their midrange diaphragm no problem.

Even the mockup speaker shows the characteristic phase plug design of a modern compression driver.

We clearly have a misunderstanding here, as you are referring to the D&D (which clearly shows a compression driver), and I thought you meant J&C (Jones and Cereta).

Would not say that. As D&D is famous for cardioids, my assumption would be they use these 3x15" for controlling directivity rather than maxing out bass SPL.

There are domes that can handle enormous power and SPL if integrated properly. Speaking of AJ, anyone having listened to MoFi V10 close to their SPL limits, might confirm this. Absolutely crazy how loud they can go.

There's a trend for old designs coming back apparently, Jones with Field coil, Kef with current-drive, etc.

The way I see it, is just a way to differentiate from the rest of the market by optimizing these old ideas.

Let's wait and see.

I like them loud - but also cheap . You are right, perspective is all wrong, so something seems to be off.
This appears to be AI generated using magnified speaker images.

They almost seem like a joke

Edit: I’m referring to the new D&D prototype
Yes, I'm thinking of D&D design too.
I see tweeter in waveguide and a huge 15 inch's driver for bass, middle frequency's
I don't see 2 more drivers, that other mentioned...
Can somebody help me please, and yes beauty is in the eye of the beholder but this is just wrong in so many ways  ,maybe they messed up with photo shop...

The speakers will appear at Axpona in short time. Perhaps we can hang tight for another few days until real information comes out at the show, and a reputable someone can validate the way they sound.

If I am going to have to plug in my speaker, it better be active. Andrew jones seems like a complete gentleman in all his interview, but he sure gets around.

more worthless speaker junk aimed at garbage stereo 2ch or junk home theatres atmos rubbish fake 3d fad flawed , speakers made out of cheap MDF look like trash for brand new daylight highway robbery snake oil prices , i wouldn't have these junk speakers for free or even off the back end of lorry for free
