Andrew Jones’s new speaker brand - Jones and Cerreta

The greatest outcome of this, is that we will see really old-minded audiophiles actually plugging a speaker to a wall outlet, that's something!

And at this price (way lower than I thought, Cerretas probably tell the truth about a passion product) we will see lots of them out there.

Also regarding price, if they hit big-ish-boi 110dB without compression and excessive distortion, it's rather a bargain.

I think a passionate speaker designer was able to turn a personal hobby project into something that will actually make him a little money.
A personal hobby project? I'm confused. This is a company, with two partners, the Cerretas, and by all appearances they have a lot of input. They're vinyl & tube vintage audio guys, but mainly they're accomplished businessmen.

*On edit: it occurs to me that you may mean a personal hobby project for the Cerreta brothers, which actually makes more sense: "Jamie and his brother Bill were looking to do something together in the audio space" according to the website.

Seems gimmicky but at least it's not 100k I guess. I can hit 110db on a cardiod Genelec for the same price.

I don’t know if I’ve phrased this correctly or clearly, but I do have the strong impression that Andrew Jones had the opportunity here to bring one of his passion projects to life with financially stable partners by his side.
It’s also clear that this wasn’t going to be a financial disaster. Very few people with a net worth of less than a billion dollars are willing to voluntarily give away large sums of money.
But precisely at this point of monetization in the audiophile world of free money, the name Andrew Jones at least doesn’t seem to be a disadvantage.

They are interesting if they measure up :) that would be new to that market a high efficiency speaker with modern acoustic engineering flat fr good dispersion characteristic etc that we are used to now with our speakers.

That would be the interesting proposition, behaves like any modern well engineered high end speaker but with an efficiency not seen for a while .
If they make the impedance curve benign that would be even better .

Some one send this to amir with two helpers and a motor lift :)

You mean with 2x W371A?

No, you don't at cardioid mode, limiters flash like Christmas if you try, see similar owner experiences at the thread.
You'll have to go to mains monitors to get that clean, and at comparable or way higher prices.

For that price, can buy my next new car. Not that would spend it on speakers regardless but they would be much more capable if I were willing.

Even if they measure well, more likely would buy something active with room correction.
Current average price of a new vehicle is 50k according to multiple sources. Not too far off though! Yikes.

Was stating what I could buy, not what the average is. I can get a nicely equipped (gas-powered) SUV for around $34K. Others will spend more no doubt. My folks bought a 2025 hybrid and spend over $60K. To each his own, but my point was mainly around what features I would want if spending near the cost of a new vehicle.

P.S.

If I wanted speakers with AJ's creds, could buy a pair of SourcePoint v10s for $8K. For less than $30K, @MKR bought massive, custom-designed speakers. Just added for some additional perspective on value. In this context, the Troubador seems overpriced.

A report from somebody who attended the show including listening to AJ’s Troubadour speakers says the quoted price was:

$33,900

Only read a couple of comments from people who heard it, both very positive, one saying best of show so far.
Pricey but not silly land like say Wilson, etc.

I just got back from Axpona where they had these speaker set up in the lobby of the hotel, I listened for 20 min was not really blown away. They are really large in size when you see them in person. I went to the convention to check out the Mofi source 10 before I purchased them.. Will also skip that purchase as they sounded way too bright for my taste and they were the "master version". This experience has reminded me how important it is, if possible to get a chance to listen to speakers in person before buying if you can, as everyone perceives things differently.

Sure you didn't confuse them with Dutch&Dutch 15C (which apparently are in the lobby)?

Define silly since you can't drive them...

Ask anyone one who is not into audio and likely will get to silly very quickly. I would not have to go far in my house to find an answer. Silly would not be the term she would use! :D

"Silly" is subjective and individual but like porn, you know it when you see it.

Surprised they are using field coil for the coax. With any luck they will put out a NEO version for lower cost. Compared to other "statement" speakers for the pair they are reasonable in comparison. Not that I am going to purchase a pair just making a comparison.

Would like to hear them, curious about how they hold up off axis WRT DI and would like to see some measurements posted'

Rob :)

Absolutely, I got JBL 4329P when they were on sale for $3500 and everyone I know who is in this category looks at me  like I need to be committed.

Yeah really I tell friends I build speakers, when I discuss driver cost get a very similar response, "Hey wait you have to build cabinets and crossovers too! "

Rob :)

It could always get worse price wise
Like this YG that costs over a million ;)
