The first model is a coaxial speaker with a field coil driver

Field coil rings the high end price and not corresponding benefit alarm bells to me, even more in times of magnetic materials and magnetic circuit designs of companies like Purifi and KEF. Hope there will be some pure driver measurements in the future although in this price class such are unfortunately usually rare.

My assumption would be, that it this is rather not the case with any future buyer or anyone being potentially interested in such product.

Don´t quite understand why every new product has to be judged from the ´value-for-money´ perspective as if it is aiming at Best Buy customers. This rather looks like a ´cost no object´ project to me, like one of the most recognized speaker designers has simply built what he had always been dreaming of. One might decry the resulting price tag, but last time AJ has done something similar with a Beryllium coaxial for TAD Labs, it turned out to be amazing. So I am giving him credit here, very curios to hear this loudspeaker in future.

Have they shared the price?

Field coils do have some real theoretical advantages, I would be very interested to see if and how field coils translate to actual measured performance improvements. Hopefully, since field coils are a new "trend", some brave company will send some to @amirm for testing.

Minimum sitting distance for phase coherence is gonna be big problem for most people's living rooms

It's not so much that, it's just that if you have $40K ( I reckon price for these will be in that area) to spend on a speaker system the options are almost limitless. So why spend it on something with relatively poor performance?

No matter how much the spend is there's still a value for money equation.

So I am giving him credit here
Yes there's no question that he knows what he's doing. I've no doubt they'll be competent and a lot better than the only field coil speakers I've ever had a listen to which were embarrasingly bad and cost north of £30K.

Wow - both of these are really big speakers. But as noted, price tag on them is probably going to be prohibitive for most.

With the price and availability of rare earths what they are maybe mass produced modern field coils could some day make sense? Currently low production makes them cost prohibitive but are there any reasons why field coils are inherently more expensive?

Of course this probably won't be the case with his targeted market as otherwise it could become a failure. But we are in ASR and entitled to question the usage of a technology that hasn't till now shown any SOTA products. As said hope to be proven wrong and this will beat every existing TAD, Genelec, Purifi or KEF driver but till then I have my hopefully understandable doubts.
