when kirk and klingon go hand to hand , while genesis is planet-quaking all around with directional bass at the world famous CIC Empire Leicester Square , when captain kirk starts kicking the klingon in the face with his boot ( not not in the face ) felt again in the chest while rest of the bass in those screen channels was planet-quaking in Dolby THX felt , way better than , sensurround i even dared the system to break up , it had some vastly incredible real world JBL THX that i ould never hear a system like this again , it was JBL THX one of kind at reproduction beyond the lowest of the lows of a film soundtrack , not bad sound memory i have for 34 years ago ,

By thw way, how's your KH310 with a 12" sub doing in that regard? I've been eyeing a KH750 + KH120 set for quite a while, but now I'm starting to feel like I'd need something beefier...

The subwoofer helps to offload significantly the LF stress from the KH310 woofer. Upper bass & lower mids is a lot clearer when playing bass heavy tracks with vocals (rock, edm and such) at higher SPL.

Moving the subwoofer from front-corner to front-middle helped to even out the bass somewhat. Using 8ch DAC solved the digital crossover timing issue I had when using 2x2ch DAC.

The KH310+sub is pretty much dialled in, and performing really really well.

Should've said "chest thump" but google might not very helpful here either. I'm referring to the effect of kick drum when you feel the impact in your chest rather then in your ears.

three types of bass
1) bass kick (aka bass chest ) , music drum n bass , percussion instruments , die hard beretta 92 icing a terrorist underneath a table feeling bass chest kick , " thanks for the advice "
2) bass slam so fast , fake fabricated explosions in movies
3) bass depth where pressure slowly has increasing slow level build up like AC-3 japan pressing of , the abyss special edition implosion scene ( that makes that 4k atmos sound like tiny bubbles being blown in a glass )

get pioneer laserdisc player with AC-3 and grab pressing of die hard THX AC-3 as it retains the theatrical mix , those 4k discs , those are only near field mixes and have sound effects in wrong channel positions , die hard laserdisc is way to show off the sound systems capabilities with JBL cinema speakers

I estimate 80 Hz to 100 Hz for the chest thumps.

maybe raiders of the lost ark , arm punch strong in dB chest kick but must have JBL cinema speakers can't use these tiny home theatre speakers or it won't feel like the truck ran over that nazi when he couldn't hold on anymore lol

How about a chest thump?

Ah ok … when thumpy track is played loud, the chest thump is there and very satisfying. It can cause chair thump too.

And when pushed really hard may cause cupboard door thump(rattle) too

And at one of the 3 seats in the room, there is an unwritten sign “for bass heads only“
