Well I have a complete Meridian system bought between 2004-2008, but its actually to expensive don't consider this, its not worth it.
Not on a normal income .

Perhaps OP has not realized the total disconnect between price and sound quality ?

There is usually no or a very weak correlation between price and soundquality gear can have other qualities making them good products. It can actually turn and get you worse of everything if you move to high end have a look at TotalDac (tested here at asr) or Zanden products or Audionote .

There is a misconception often held by audiophiles that there is some kind of stairway to heaven with even more expensive and exclusive products leading almost to nirvana (but not really or else there would be no upgrades ).

I don't dare to numerate all i wasted on perpetual upgrades over the years . getting a Meridian system stopped that and then made me think more so that was a positive outcome in the end .

I thought it might be useful on this site to show how much a Golden Ear/Audiophile has spent on my system. These are approximations not including tax, as I don't have the receipts in front of me. This also doesn't include money spent on other gear that is now not is use in main rig.

Ok, here goes:
Source/s- $4000.00
Dac- $2100.00
pre-amp/multi-channel processor- $7500.00
Amp/s- $8000.00
Power Conditioner- $2500.00
Mixer- $200.00
Headphones- $450.00
Speakers, 2 sets- $10,000
Computer/monitor/media player- $3000.00
Interconnects/speaker wire- $1000.00
Phono pre-amp- $300.00
Professional Recorder- $1000.00
Total: $40,050

You need better speakers

Whenever I see this kind of price tags I wonder whether you wouldn't rather spend the vast majority of it on actually seeing live concerts. Hifi will always provide an imperfect experience in comparison. Leftover money can be spent on a "good enough" system. After all, isn't the ultimate goal to enjoy music? (I realize that some people are well off or prefer dead artists)
Great suggestion, but for some reason, Placido Domingo has not agreed to come sing in my living room despite the fact I asked him very nicely!

Is there supposed to be a point?
Nope. Just trolling going on and on. If this isn't, our guy is not OK and should really see someone. (Professional deformation more than ad hominem attack...)

@Born2Run , Since you seem to be completely unable to override price/performance correlation...
Looks like you missed that our host have a 100K$ system, as some ASR members also have more expensive systems than you get. If this is the only skill factor you value, then you have it: they are more competent than you in this field.

By the way, I bet my all-in-one 4200€ Buchardt A500 System performs better than yours, subjectively and objectively. No joke. I mean it. Bye.

Topping DAC, tower paradigms (used), Adcom 535II(used), some parts from Mouser to optimize the amp. Total spend about $2,500 Canadian. 80% spend = speakers.

When my rebuild of the Hafler 220 done, the above total rises by $300.

its probably much better than my Meridian system I've been intrigued by the A500/A700 among the possible contenders when my system needs replacing

My stuff is either inherited, gifted or used, so as retirement approaches, it'll just have to do. Other stuff in the 'stash' was got very cheaply on the whole...

Does your system give you the "live sound" level of an outdoor amphitheater or more of an intimate nightclub?

The biggest problem of trolling is usually not the troll itself but people falling to it, as like a virus it needs a host to grow. If ignored they soon starve or move on.

Useful for what?

It does illustrate how hard it might be for some to face reality.

To the OP, it's useful to instigate. We're going on two three pages already without even a premise of what subject is being discussed.

It's a typical "troll" tactic.

That’s fantastic, why don’t you send some of it in to Amir so he can test it?

Haha !?! You're kidding, right?

You know perfectly well that just listing prices is meaningless. You've got to list a candidate in each category -- preferably two or more.

E.g. for amps ...

Pass Labs X250.8, ($10,000)
medium_point_8_800.jpg

or McIntosh MC312, ($7000)
