Objective analysis of all the music tracks (by MusicScope 2.1.0 and Adobe Audition 3.0.1) in an excellent-recording-quality enjoyable full orchestra CD album with soprano solo and chorus suitable for subjective assessment/confirmation of audio system and room acoustic environment.
Part-00: CD “Schubert ROSAMUNDE D.797” by Kurt Masur and Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, 412-432-2 PHILIPS 1983: introduction
Hello ASR Friends and colleagues,
Last week, after his kind reading of my post
#1 and above post
#38, one of my audio enthusiast friends who is an intensive classical music lover, contacted me via Zoom video conference. We two had an enjoyable video conference talk for almost one hour mainly focusing on “audio reference/sampler music playlist”. He has been almost a ROM (read only member) in ASR for several years, and still so at present.
He finished our conference with one request for me saying “If possible at your end, you would please share objective analysis data by Music Scope and Adobe Audition for all tracks of an excellent-recording-quality full orchestra CD album! I know well you have shared many times in ASR Forum regarding Schubert ROSAMUNDE conducted by Kurt Masur, Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, 412-432-2 PHILIPS.”
Yes, I have touched several times on the specific wonderful CD album in terms of reference/sampler full orchestra music suitable for tuning and checking our audio system and room acoustic environments; you can find such my posts when you would search by keyword “Rosamunde”.
Even recorded in December 1983, I believe the CD album is still one of the best ten full orchestra recordings in terms of performance, 3D stereo image, balance, S/N, sonority, hall tone,
etc. By the way, fortunately I have attended several times the orchestra concerts there, Gewandhaus Leipzig, wonderful concert hall, as you may know.
One of the highlights in the CD is that Elly Ameling was the invited soprano singer for only Track-05 “Romance”, 3-min 47-sec. I once heard or read somewhere that she delightfully accepted Kurt Masur’s cordial invitation to the recording session, and she visited Leipzig in December 1983 only for Track-05! Elly Ameling was my idol soprano singer in my youth years, indeed.
Even though I several times did intensive internet search in order to find actual video/movie of full ballet performance of “Schubert: ROSAMUNDE” hopefully using this wonderful music CD, I never found some; I also asked to AI several times for that, but AI always answered definitely negatively; it looks we have no actual ballet performance at all, quite regretfully. In case if you could find any, please let me know.
I really hope and look forward to, in the near future, an excellent ballet company/institute would perform full ballet concert using this wonderful CD album, and would record the concert in 4K or higher HiRes audio-visual format.
In any way, I cordially accepted my friend’s kind request, and starting in this post, followed by coming eleven (11) posts, let me share objective analysis data, by MusicScope 2.1.0 and Adobe Audition 3.0.1, for all the tracks of the wonderful CD album,
“Schubert ROSAMUNDE D.797” by
Kurt Masur (conductor) and
Gewandhausorchester Leipzig,
Elly Ameling (soprano, Track-5),
Rundfunkchor Leipzig,
412-432-2 PHILIPS, digitally recorded and mastered (DDD) in December 1983, released in1985, attaching currently-available YouTube link to each of the tracks.
Let’s start with detailed information on the specific CD Album.
If you can read/understand Japanese, excellent liner notes in Japanese was/is also included.
As I wrote in
my post #1,034 on my project thread, this album serves as just one of my supplemental "Audio Reference/Sampler Music Playlists" in addition to
my usual and standard "Playlist" consists of 60 tracks selected from various music genres shared in the very first post on this thread (you would please also find the summary post
#670 on the project thread).
For this post series, just for sure, I carefully ripped the CD again into .aiff format (non-compressed 44.1 kHz 16 bit) using dBpoweramp CD Ripper Ver. 17.3, and the thus ripped eleven (11) music tracks were analyzed by MusicScope 2.1.0 and Adobe Audition 3.0.1 as follows in the below 11 posts.
In this
“introduction” post, let me share with you regarding the “full orchestra sound image” (or should I say “sound stage” or “sound perspective”) given by the specific CD album. You would please refer to my posts
#931,
#1,009 and
#1,022 for details of my latest
PC-DSP-based multichannel multi-SP-driver multi-amplifier fully active stereo audio setup. My present SP system can be seen like this;
and,
In my posts
#926 and
#927, I prepared schematic drawings of “sound perspective” around my SP system for “lute duo” and “jazz trio”, respectively, which you can find under the below spoiler cover.
I believe, therefore, now it is time for me to prepare the similar “full orchestra sound perspective” drawing(s) given by the specific CD album, and these are the results of my such small efforts.
Even though I will touch this again in my coming post of “Part-01: Track-01”, the FFT frequency SPL spectrum of full orchestra
tutti of Track-01 well corresponds and contributes to the wonderful “sound perspective” as shown below.
