I wanted to compare amplifiers measured elsewhere to the ASR standard measurements: SINAD at 5W in 4 ohms, and power at 1% THD+N in 4 ohms. So I chose some amplifiers that interested me more (let me know if you wish I can add more), read their graphs, converted to SINAD, color coded and created the list below.

I hope you find as interesting as I did. :)

<== unfortunately they use THD and not THD+N so they are not comparable

And some datasheets of buffered amp modules (ICEpower, Hypex, Pascal), and graphs provided by manufacturers.

I am particularly impressed with McIntosh MC462 ($9k usd) and its vanishing low levels of noise, only losing to the Benchmark AHB2.

It would be pretty interesting to have a ranking/scatterplot of SINAD and Watts vs. $. A very laborious undertaking though

It could become a community project. No one has ever tried to aggregate data across many various sources.

I would be willing to type them into a Google spreadsheet if someone knows how to make the fancy graphs later. :)

If the Google sheet is made public it will go very quickly. I'm sure a lot of members will participate, and many have the skill to create dynamic graphs rather than static Excel plots if the interest rises to that level.

Added the NCore MP series, ICEpower AS series and Pascal M/S-PRO2 measurements from their datasheets since they are a finished amplifier board, only cables and connectors needed, as oposed to Purifi 1ET400A and NCore NC500OEM/NC400 which have separate power supplies and/or buffers which may alter the performance.

It shows how impressive the NC502MP is for SINAD x power x price.

Good link, @Matias . Personally I find one-value SINAD like 5W/1kHz/4R quite useless, however the soundstage plots show valuable set of measurements.

Added a bunch of heavy and powerful big name amplifiers. 131 total now!

I hope the rest of the current-gen Devialets have better protection. A relative is in Devialet sales, and I wonder if there's a compelling staff discount for the amps...

Here's how I moved all data into excel...without retyping anything. Overall, took about 3min.

- Open Microsoft Excel
- Copy and Paste data
- Select "Data" tab, then "text to columns"
- Select "Delimited", Hit Next
- Under Delimiters, select "other", then type -, Hit Next
- A little bit of data cleanup
- Created a table, sorted by THD.
- Save

See attached excel file.
You can import into google spreadsheet as needed.

 This is what I get for posting at 3am. Still, if one averages out the amplifier score, it’s different by 10 or so. Is that just unit to unit variance? Seems like too much difference for that.

Thanks, but beware this is all very new and I am fixing mistakes, for example, I just corrected MBL Corona C15 to yellow.
