Amplifier Output Impedance - Erin's Gear Synergy Video

Synergy made (and will make? ) sense with the current drive amps, apart from the obvious with high output impedance amps.
As anything else in that hobby though, its fame moved to everything else.

What's sad it's that there's still amps out there that can alter speaker response.
There's a whole thread somewhere about little amps like Wiim and the measurements that show that flaw.

Synergy is misused here because it means that the parts combine to create an outcome greater than they should, greater than the sum of its contributing parts.

That's not the case here at all. This isn't about synergy but rather about how output-impedance-mismatched components produce outcomes that are inferior to the sum of their contributing parts (dysergy?).

Does anyone know what amp Erin uses when he's testing and listening at 105db+ high output speakers like the Mofi 888 / v10 or Revel 228be? I've don't think he ever really mentions what amp is used in the review.

He bought this recently and has been his dream amp used by default AFAIK.

Was the March Audio P501 Monoblocks which have been replaced by the MC611 Monoblocks

And he has mentioned amps being used in his reviews many times. Yes he doesn't do it all the time but he definitely does mention the amps used in recent reviews

Thanks, I'm surprised he hasn't reviewed this amp. I'm looking for a versatile amp that can power anything to its full potential and has very low impedance across the full frequency spectrum so it gives a flat neutral frequency response. I'm not sure what are good options - amps are way more expensive than I thought. March, Apollon and Icepower seem to offer good power for the money and are well rated in this amp spreadsheet I found. I saw you have an Apollon. Topping are good but are really for low power setups it seems. Mcintosh prices are WILD!

I have both apollon and march 9040 monoblocks. I would choose March now for all three in hindsight. Apollon was an exhaustive, slow and frustrating experience. Great amp but too frustrating.

Tube amps can sound different. Solid State nope
Yes and no...

At one point in time I bought an older Technics amp.
It sounded different from other amps I had.
Upon investigating why that was the case I found out that the (non-defeatable) tone controls had a center-point where the response should be 'flat' but wasn't.
Once the tone controls were set in a different physical position where it measured 'flat' the audible differences were gone.
