Looking to start up a home theater system. Have a pair of Dali Spektors i'm going to sit on some bookshelves and initially just looking to get an amplifier that might pair nicely with them. Any suggestions?

Budget maybe 500 Euro or so (absolute max). Not looking to buy a centre for now, can't afford it. Will be a 2.0 setup. Not interested in anything bluetooth/wifi etc. Just want something I can watch some movies on my TV from (netflix, disney, blu ray player, Xbox etc.).

Cheers

Hi @zoidbezerker! Welcome to ASR.

The WiiM Amp Pro has both Bluetooth and WiFi, but I believe is nonetheless the best Amp for your purpose.

No other Amp within your budget has a comparable featureset for creating a high performance playback system.

Here's Amir's review:

Thanks! Was recommended the Denon AVR-X2800H by a local shop. It's over my budget at EUR 600 but just curious how would this stack up vs the WiiM?

If you already have an amplifier, a subwoofer is much more important for a home theather

I have no amp. Well, I tell a lie. I have a SMSL amp that I had to connect to my TV before by toslink with a HDMI convertor that just ended up being a giant PITA. So I got rid of it. Now, a new amp is a non negotiable.

The most important thing for a home theater is having some speakers that aren't the ones from the TV :D Which is where i'm at right now.

I have no budget for anything other than an amp right now. But i'm hoping in a year or two to get a centre and subwoofer.

Will the WiiM Amp Pro support a future subwoofer and centre, as well as the bookshelves?

I'd say the Denon is a better HT Amp.

It supports more surround sound codecs and you can expand your sound system to more speakers in the future, whereas the WiiM is limited to 2.1 for now.

On the flip side, it's much larger than the WiiM, less efficient, and costs 30% more.
