Hi, my friend recently built a new house, has wired it for 4 speakers in separate rooms. I am looking for advice. All wires are terminated in one room. I want the ability to play separate audio in each room, e.g. Spotify or radio plus a cd.
I need to buy 4 speakers (what spec should I look for, not too expensive)
I need to buy a separate amplifier or is there an easier solution.
A budget of €300 excluding speakers Thanks Ken

Thanks for responding, it is way to detailed for me. I was hoping you could advise if an Aura AMP CD950 multi channel amplifier would work in a four room 2 speaker set-up. Or if you could advise an alternative option! Thanks Ken

I don't know anything about the Auna and would have to wonder about the quality at such a low price, but it looks like it would work.

An obvious alternative is wireless multiroom system (Sonos or something similar). It should be possible to add a cd player in the main room. I get the impression this isn't what your friend wants though and maybe the speaker budget is too low.

I use Niles commercial installation amplifiers. I have a 12-channel unit I got used >20 years ago that still works. It is flexible, reliable, and sounds good. I use it for developing multi-amp speakers. Aside from small amount of audible hiss when using high efficiency tweeters, it is indistinguishable from my more expensive amps. I got mine for $100 at a garage sale, I see them come up for sale cheap.

Is yours the 4630? There are some on ebay for cheap. The Niles SI-275 2-channel that Amir reviewed seemed solid.

Is this Two rooms or Four Rooms? For two rooms, Get a couple of stereo Fosi V3 stereo amps ($69) for each room, then a separate wifi streamer for each room like Acrylic LP10 or Wiim Mini are $70ish bucks OR a separate Fosi BT20A Pro bluetooth amp in each room ( $96) and use one's phone/tablet/computer or any Bluetooth source of audio to play music to whatever room speakers you wish

Thanks your all your help! It's 4 rooms, with a pair of wires in the ceiling waiting for speakers to be connected. So I need to get 8 Speakers, 4 Fosi V3 stereo amps, plus 4 Wi-Fi streamers. Is there a simpler combination of the above? Tks

It's why I recommended the Niles commercial install amp. They are made for the task you asked about, and can be had for cheap. They don't blow up if you accidentally short the outputs.

I ended up getting the WiiM Pro Wireless Multi-Room Music Streamer plus the Fosi Audio BT10A Bluetooth 5.0 Amplifier Stereo Power Amplifier, 2 Channel. This should get two of the 4 rooms up and running! I hope! Can anyone suggest 4 speakers that won't break the bank! Thanks Ken

I am compromised with the depth of the speakers. 6" or 150mm is as much room as I have, any speaker recommendations, not too expensive that are compact in depth, slim!

The words "I hope" after a purchase seems a bit discouraging, lol. At first you made it sound like each room had in ceiling speaker wire in each room and terminated back to one room but adding an amp and player to each room sounds like it's different?

Slightly different, alright! This is the configuration, all wires are consolidated back to the basement. 9 speakers in total.
Dining Room x 2
Kitchen x 2
Main Room x 2
Front Hall x 1
Corridor x 1
Bathroom x 1

The 3 rooms with 2 speaker wires, I hoped to connect via to 2 WiiM Pro Streamer's and 2 Fosi Audio BT10A Amplifier's. That left one channel left over as I thought that there was 8 in total. When I found out about the 9th Speaker. I ordered a Tuya wifi switch where I can toggle between the hall speakers and the bathroom (Dry Contact WiFi Switch Relay 5A Tuya Smart Life App Remote Control Timing DC 12/24V AC 100-240V Supports Google Home Alexa) if not I can just add a manually switch that can default to the Bathroom and switch to the halls if required.

I have one WiiM Pro Streamer and one Fosi Audio BT10A Amplifier on order. which should solve two rooms. (the ability to independently play Spotify in either)
Thanks for all your help, Ken!

Not the only thing that does not work! I am stuck in an Airport for the past 10 hours!

LOL, don't miss that sort of nonsense! I used to have to travel a fair bit for work.....

Welcome aboard.;)
What are the size (gauge/awg) and the length of these speaker wires?
Other ways to configure a whole-home system have already been suggested.

But if your friends also thought to wire the whole house with some ethernet cabling (RJ-45); the job maybe simplified by utilizing a Dante (AVIO) network and adapter modules/dongles... where the power amplification is done in individual areas near the speakers.

My friends did not go the cat6e route (except for a few security cameras) so I'm stuck with cable speaker wire, I am not sure of the gauge, it's standard enough, I guess

It's clear where the wires home run to but how were they wired for control, with VCs in each room? If this wasn't planned from the start, your options for for control become limited to maybe 3. I shouldn't get involved because I've been down this road too many times but what is your budget? As mentioned you really need a CI installer handle this.
