So i am having some issues with one of my amplifiers. The amp in question is the Anthem MCA 30.
Issues. A couple weeks back I noticed when i would turn the amp on, the left channel would not come on for 5 minutes or so. Or it would come on then fade out.

Well today, i turn it on, left channel worked as normal but now NO right channel. Turning it off and on several times, the right channel came on but only about half volume.
Now when i turn it on, no right channel at all. I have tried all the cable and channel swapping to confirm it is whatever comes out the right channel of the amp.
So any help from some of you tech specialist would be appreciated. In the mean time I have just hooked the right channel to the center channel on the amp.

That sounds like a problem which would need some serious troubleshooting. Unless you're a technician familiar with power amplifiers I would take it to a service department. The problem non specific in origin and could be from a number of causes.

Have you had any success finding a service manual? I did a search and found only Owner's Manuals.

Looking at pics of the inside looks like the only shared part between channels is the power supply. Likely simple problems are cracked solder joints from heat cycles and tarnished connector plugs.

How about you contact Anthem support before you hurt yourself?
Yes, I contacted Anthem's technical department, waiting to hear back.

Not an expert by any means when it comes to power amplifiers. I was just hoping someone with knowledge might have a good starting point to trouble shoot. Never had these kind of strange problems with any amps before.

Same here. No luck finding any service manuals.

Appreciate the input guys. Guess i was hoping to get lucky and someone new what the issue was.

I think you are correct, only thing shared between channels is power supply and the bank of power caps.
Depending on what Anthem has to say, i may open it up this weekend and check for any obvious cracked joints and check all internal connectors.

We can usually diagnose and troubleshoot with a service manual and a willing owner although without a service manual it is like flying for the first time blind.

Agreed, without being to locate any service manual, it's going to be a guessing game. Unless I can spot something that is obvious or Anthem has some helpful thoughts.

I guess I shouldn't complain much, in 20 yrs it's the first issue I have had with any of the Anthem amps.
