Hi everyone,

I have recently purchased a pair of Elac Debut 3.0 DB53’s and it came with a free pair of QED XT-25 pre terminated cables. So now i’m looking for a an amplifier that adequately powers these speakers. I would prefer to have bluetooth and rca integrated into the amp.

So far I have been looking at the Fosi audio BT20A Pros and my local Hifi store has recommended me the Yamaha R-S202D albeit at a higher price compared to the Fosi’s (£250 compared to £100). I am worried that the Fosi audio’s would underpower and damage the Elac’s as they recommend 20-120W at 6ohms. Would love to have any advise regarding amp choices as I am new to this hobby with the Elac’s being my first pair of Hi-fi speakers. Thanks in advance!

Welcome to ASR,

The Fosi Audio BT20A Pro will not damage your ELAC Debut 3.0 DB53's. If you can audition a BT20A Pro and it drives the ELAC's as loud as you want with a little extra headroom to spare, consider keeping the Fosi Audio BT20A Pro.

The Fosi is powerful enough and -- comparing Amir's BT20A measurements with the published Yamaha specs -- as pure amplification, a somewhat better performer than the Yamaha with the exception of output power. On that score, either unit is more than adequate for those little speakers and IMO extremely unlikely to cause them any damage.

Both amplifiers were tested by Amir and have the same power output. The Fosi has almost 10 watts more at 4 ohms and 4 watts less at 8 ohms than the Yamaha.
You gain nothing with the Yamaha except a cheap speaker terminal, something I'd do without.

You could look for a used Yamaha A-S700, a much more solid amplifier that you can get used for €150-200. You can upgrade to top-quality Bluetooth for €10-30, with any amplifier, by the way.

Otherwise, you'll have to tell us your maximum budget.
