When asking a certain guy if my Exposure 3010s2 will be enough to drive Focal Aria 948, I was told it won't be nearly enough as the bass will get "boomy" and not well controlled.

Given the spirit of this forum, I'd like to to better understand when enough is enough, what's the math involved behind this and how I can measure things to determine whether a certain amp will provide "well-controlled" bass.

I own Focal Aria 926 and when I upgraded my amp from Exposure 2010s2 to Exposure 3010s2 I indeed heard an improvement in the bass region (considering it wasn't a placebo effect), so there's probably something to this statement, but, at the same time, I understand that these speculations sometimes based in myths. I've heard it has something to do with damping factor and something else probably.

For information, I usually listen at less then 80db at 2 meters away from the speakers (which I consider not too loud).

Is there a well defined procedure of how to calculate and determine if a certain amplifier is enough to drive speakers and provide "well-defined bass" given the specifications of both.
